A DDEPLY SAD TINUBU IS WATCHING DEVELOPMENTS IN THE COURTS OVER THE KOGI STATE AFFAIRS AS HE TRIES TO RECOVER HIS N4BILLION WHICH HE USED IN THE SPONSORSHIP OF THE AUDU/FALEKE TICKET
Amidst a tight regimen of security and human traffic into the historical in land port town of Lokoja in Kogi State,Alhaji Yahaya Bello was sworn in as the fourth democratically elected Governor of the confluence state on the 27th January,2016.
In his address to the state after been sworn in by the state ‘s Chief Justice,Justice Nasiru Ajanah, the business tycoon turned politician enjoined the citizens of the state and non-indigenesalike resident in the state to cooperate with him to move the state forward.
As early as ten in the morning when the swearing in was billed to take place the Lokoja township stadium ,venue for the inauguration was filled to the brim as Ebira natives from all around the world trooped to the venue to catch a glimpse of one of their own who was been inaugurated as Governor of the state.
The venue was so jam packed that even the security operatives had a difficult time controlling the surging crowd and even when the event came to an end it took hours before the venue was free of human traffic.
This reporter saw at least four different masquerades on the streets of Adavi –Eba as natives displayed their joy and gratitude to God Almighty with a rich display of their cultural heritage on the inauguration day.
It was a difficult time to hunt for taxis as all the taxis which will normally commute from Okene to areas like Ogori-Magongo were almost non- existent due to the inauguration ceremony holding in Lokoja, seat of power.
Sources also told this reporter that areas like Azad Palace in Okene and the newly sworn in Governor’s village of Agassa just outside of Okene Town were in celebration mood as the people rejoiced over their son’s totally unexpected victory at the governorship polls.
Ebira people of the Middle Belt region in Nigeria estimated at around five million people ae to be found in as Ebira Tao in Kogi state, Ebira Igu or Ebira Koton Karfe in Kogi state,Ebira Etuno in Igarra in Edo State ,Ebira Toto in Umaisha and Lafia area of Nassarawa State,Egbura Agatu in Benue State just to mention but a few.
However ,Ebira Tao or Ebira Ehi found principally around areas likeOpete, eganyi,Ebiya,Adogo,Ajaokuta,Paku,Okene,Agassa,Obehira,Ageva,Okengwen,Ihima,Eika,Ogaminana,Kuroko,Osara,Otite among others are the most visible as they make about 85 percent of the population.
In all of their collective history ,dating back to 1400 when they were believed to have left somewhere around Mambila Plateau through their forefathers and settled around the mountainous ranges of Okehi and Okene only Late Alhaji Adamu Atta now deceased had ever been elected as Governor and this was in the old Kwara State in 1979 till 1983.
In a related issue ,a source who was also at the venue of the inauguration said he was still lost for words on how to thank Almighty God for the honor done to Ebira nation.
He enjoined all Kogi natives irrespective of tribe and creed to rally round the newly elected Governor Bello so as to lift the state into the next level positively.
He pointed at the presence of cultural icons like masquerades at the event signifying the level of déjà vu in Ebira land due to the unexpected turn in events in the political equation of Kogi state.
