It would be another exciting moment this Friday when MARKETING EDGE, Nigeria’s Numero Uno brands, marketing and adverting focused magazine hosts Mr. Emmanuel Agu, a debonair brand builder, marketing maverick and quintessential marketer on its IG live interview.
The conversation with the theme, “Managing Fast Moving Consumer Brands Amidst and Post COVID-19 Pandemic and the Challenge of Market Activation”, will go live at 6pm.
Emmanuel Agu is the Group Marketing Director of JOTNA Nigeria Limited, a group of companies which comprises The La Casera Company PLC, a leading beverage company; Prima Corporation, a manufacturer of preforms and caps in West Africa; Engee Pet Mfg Co. which produces the most consistent quality or food grade bottle resins; and Gilon Group, a global distributor of raw materials.
Since he got in the saddle at JOTNA, Emma has soldiered on in the charge of his responsibility of leading a new Marketing team of the group.
A versed and vastly experienced professional, the marketing whiz kid has brought to bear his very deep knowledge and very diverse exposure on the management of an array of brands, including La Casera Apple drink, Smoov Chapman, Bold Bitter Lemon, Nirvana Range of Water (Premium Table Water, Soda Water and Tonic Water); just as he has led his team of talented marketers to develop and build iconic brands and deliver high growth plans against key priorities.
Before joining JOTNA in 2018, Agu had started his career at Guinness Nigeria Plc, a subsidiary of Diageo Company as a Graduate Management Trainee –Marketing in 2002 and rose through the ranks to become the Marketing Manager –Lager (Harp & Satzenbrau) & Malt (Malta Guinness Classic and Low Sugar) brands in 2011.
He later moved to Nigerian Breweries Plc, a subsidiary of the Heineken Company in 2013 as a Marketing Manager – Lager (Gulder & Life Continental Beer) and Stout (Legend Extra Stout) brands.
Agu left the Heineken Company as the Portfolio Manager –Mainstream Lager (Goldberg, Life, 33, & More) & Stout (Legend, Turbo King & Williams) in 2018 before joining JOTNA Nigeria Limited as its Group Marketing Director.
With almost two decades experience in Consulting and FMCGs, he is a well rounded Business and Commercial leader with strong track records across brand communication/experiential strategies, portfolio profitability, insight generation that has delivered strong ROI on cutting-edge innovations, and high performing team leadership.
Skilled in regional communication and local insight generation to deliver strong brand growth, Agu has vast experience in cause marketing with a broad knowledge about the Nigerian/African consumer space, their habits and attitudes towards brands.
He is a strong Marketing Communication professional with a Master of Science (M.Sc.) focused in Media and Marketing Communication from School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University. He is a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (FNIMN), a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC), and an Ashridge Alumnus.
The La Casera Company, which is the flagship company in the JOTNA Group launched La Casera apple drink in 2001 which instantly re-defined the CSD marketing space in Nigeria. Apart from being the first carbonated soft drink to be in pet bottle, the company came up with an apple flavour which was very different from what was available in the market in terms of cola, lime, lemon and orange. Since then, there has been no stopping to the innovativeness in the country.
The company was at it again in 2014 when it launched the Smoov Chapman into the market in a manner that democratized to the ordinary man on the street, a drink that used to be exotic ready-to-drink for only the bourgeoisie in high rated hotels across the country. And in February this year, the company became the first to enter into the ginger space, and became the first CSD in Nigeria to have a carbonate soft drink with ginger as a flavor, and then tropical. It also has Bitter Lemon extra, and then orange which is spiced up with tangerine.
