BREAKING:
WHEELS!!TOYOTA IS KING OF THE NIGERIAN ROAD
BY ABDULMUMINI ADEKU,LAGOS,NIGERIA...
On the sidelines of
the on-going but maiden edition of the
Paedia Express Motor Show or Trade Expo currently going on in Lagos,Nigeria has
come a declaration that Brand Toyota is actually the most dominant force on the
avearge Nigerian Road at the moment..
In an exclusive interview
with The News office Desk of The E.N.M.Paedia Express Multimedia Group of
Lagos, Nigeria, The Chief Executive officer of the LuckVic Enterprises and also
the brand architect behind Don Maria Motors ,Mr Lucky Akhaine revealed
with a strong conviction that brand Toyota at the moment has not less than 85
percent success rate in Nigeria..
He assured that he was
pretty sure that if the Nigerian Federal Government provides a leverage via a good playing field
for industry stakeholders in the automobile industry that a lot of positive developments will
happen..
According to him ,he
was pretty sure that if brand Toyota opens up a manufacturing plant in Nigeria
and not even an Assembly plant he was sure that it will make a better sale in
terms of profitability ..
He explained that
under such an arrangement ,Nigeria will no longer be a dumping ground thus making the brand and several units in its product portfolio much
cheaper than expected .
He pointed out that
then facts on the ground supports his hypothesis as Nigeria has the raw
materials Ajaokuta Steel Plant and the human resource potentials but quickly added that the issue of 24 hours electricity
will have to be factored into the bouquet in the process so that the end
product in the steel development value chain will not be affected in any way..
His words :"You
take a closer look at this showroom and
tell me how many other cars do you see apart from brand Toyota and so this easily answers your question
"
"You can pass the
road a whole day and not see a Peugeot vehicle
and we do have a very good plant in Kaduna, Volkswagen is no longer no operation
,where are the Hondas of this world "
"If we have a
Toyota plant in Nigeria it will be good but the reality is that we do not have
it ,ironically we actually have the highest number of Toyota users n Africa if
am not mistaking..."
Akhaine ,a business
man with a growing reputation and name to protect in the automobile industry warned that there was no short cut to any form
of success in business but the issue of integrity
has to be respected at all times if a man wishes to go very far n any vocation in
life ...
He listed factors like
referees, due diligence, proper documentations aside from integrity also being
very vital as when he started the business
he did not even have one naira n his pocket but persevered and as of today he has
succeeded in raising the profile of his enterprise
He urged non -professionals
n the art of sales or marketing of vehicles to go ahead and do as much training
as possible as this will surely add
up in terms of their bottom line n profitably
at the end of the day..
He continues:"a
man wanted to buy a vehicle ,Toyota Venza and we looked for t everywhere but
could not get or find it as planned and i decided to talk to him and n the
process in less than 30 minutes he had brought a lexus instead"
"i have sold a
car for N300,000 and all i had was just an information and i made a profit from that ,if you have integrity
with just a sum of Million you can drive the business and if you are fortunate
you have a car lot that becomes an added advantage "
"What i did was
simple, in a recent paper presented in
church what i said was that went to all car platforms on the web and displayed a picture of the cars we have
here n our show room ,the models ,the features on them and there prices and the
rest is history "
"Most people have met have never seen me before but via
online correspondence as after we have spoken
made arrangements to see them with prove of delivery on agreement"
The Toyota brand was first introduced into Nigeria in 1965. ... This led to major changes in the Nigerian business environment of which the automobile industry was not insulated from. By 1995, four distributors; which included Elizade Nigeria Limited were the only surviving distributors for Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan.
