Coronavirus: Natore district put under lockdown

Local administration today put Natore district under lockdown for an indefinite period as an increasing number of coronavirus cases were reported among people in the area.
A total of nine people were tested positive for coronavirus in the last two days, prompting local administration to take the decision of locking down the district, our Natore correspondent reports quoting Shah Riaz, deputy commissioner of the district.
The district coronavirus prevention committee took the decision in a meeting to enforce lockdown until further notice in this regard, and it came into effect from 3:00pm today, the DC said.
Movement of public transport and holding of mass gatherings in the area have been banned as part of the measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus, the government official said.
According to the coronavirus prevention committee's decision, no one can leave or enter the district, and people from one upazila will not be able to move to another upazila, he added.
But emergency services like hospitals, medicine, food, banks, and media outlets will remain out of the purview of the restriction, the DC said.
