Lady of Africa to celebrate African Arts and Fashion; Adire Street
Carnival
When it
comes to fashion and textile industry in Africa, Nigeria occupies a pride of
place. As a country globally recognised for her rich culture and diverse
tradition, the country boasts of an incredible array of fashion choices and
fabrics. Notable amongst these fabrics is the adire, which has found favour
amongst people all over the continent of Africa and as far as Europe, America,
Canada and Asia.
The
fashion industry has also continued to grow by the day, with more and more
people coming into adire production, and bringing in various innovations. As a
way of promoting this very thriving fashion and garment industry, which by the
way will also be doubling as promotion for Nigeria’s culture and tradition,
President and Founder of Lady of Africa Empowerment and Advocacy Foundation,
Princess Sandra Bukola Fasuyi has embarked on a mission to take the highly
appreciated fabric to an entirely different level through exhibitions and
carnivals.
Two of
such carnivals are the forthcoming Lady of Africa Arts and Craft Fashion
billed for Easter Sunday and Easter Monday at the National Council for Arts and
Culture (NCAC), Iganmu, Lagos, and the Adire Street Culture Carnival
billed for October 1st, Nigeria’s Independence Anniversary. To this
end, invitation is open to all to experience the beauty and richness of the
African culture, which will be abundantly on display.
The
foundation will also in the coming days be taking this adire promotion to
Europe and America, to satisfy the craving of lovers of the adire fabric in
those parts of the world.
As a
result, Lady of Africa Foundation hopes to empower up to 20million Nigerian
women and youth through its various activities. Already, lots of people in the
country - privileged and the less-privileged have been empowered through direct
and indirect job opportunities created by the foundation through its various
promotion and marketing of the fabric.
To
further accomplish its objectives, the foundation is hereby calling for support
from culture-loving people, corporate organisations, federal and state governments
and parastatals towards ensuring that this dream comes to fruition.
VISION:
Notable
amongst the vision of Lady of Africa Empowerment and Advocacy Foundation is to
eradicate laziness, poverty, crime, and unemployment from our society and to
touch the lives of less-privileged people in Nigeria and Africa through
upliftment and empowerment, in order to ensure that the less-privileged people
become useful to themselves, family, state and the country at large.
As hinted
above, Lady of Africa Empowerment and Advocacy Foundation hopes to empower
millions of people directly or indirectly, through seminars, exhibitions,
carnivals and cultural activities in the country.
MISSION: The mission of Lady of Africa Empowerment and Advocacy Foundation
is to support the less-privileged people in the society by waking them up from
their slumbers and creating employment opportunities for them and make the
world a better place for all. In the course of our activities, the most urgent
question often asked is, ‘What have you done to so far?’
Lady of
Africa Empowerment and Advocacy Foundation believes that when two men go into
business partnership, it is because the other is necessary. The blunder that
people usually commit is forgetting to realise that it is important to render
assistance and contribute to the growth of the less-privileged in the society.
Lady of
Africa Empowerment and Advocacy Foundation believes the time is now to take
Nigerian fashion to global platform and inevitably make Nigeria a home for all
fashion lovers.
AIM &
OBJECTIVES: Lady of Africa Empowerment
and Advocacy Foundation aims and objectives is to create better opportunities
for the less-privileged people, which include the widows, widowers, orphans,
and handicapped; as well as create a brighter future for the down-trodden
across the country.
The
foundation therefore seeks support for people in these categories both in kind
and financially from government, parastatals, corporate organisations, as well
as private individuals.
The
foundation is of the opinion that this life is not our home and all shall give
account of their sojourn and activities to their creator, hence the need to
make the best of God-giving opportunity to impact the needy.
