NEARLY 70,000 BUTCHERED SO FAR IN NIGERIA IN 11 YEARS

BY ABDULMUMINI ADEKU,NOBEL LAUREATE

It was around 11:00A.M. on the 8th of December,2020 and this reporter from The News office Desk of the E.N.M.Paedia Express Multimedia Group of Lagos,Nigeria was cooling off at an eatery around the Odo-Eran area of Ogba,Lagos,Nigeria on his way to work and was discussing the state of the nation especially the killings in the North with his fellow countrymen.

They appeared very clueless as to what could be done to remedy the situation  with one of them saying  that he has since resigned himself to fate as far as Nigeria was concerned.

The others seemed to nod like Agama Lizard in agreement to the Nigerian who has decided to continue to accept the torments of the nation’s leadership.

A day before ,another four set of people at a private estate in Agege in Lagos,Nigeria  who were discussing a similar theme with this reporter however disagreed with those who accepted a grim fate.

According to them ,the nation needs a collective will of people in the opposition who will be willing to fight to the death by insisting on the best for the people at all times not minding whose axe is gored..

They all agreed that globally political leaders or actors on their own do not always want to leave public office but leave when the people get rid of them as the lure of the spoils of public office for them was always too much to ignore.

Then in the evening of 8th of December ,2020 ,a bosom friend of this reporter since 2007 and a public affairs analysts himself ,disclosed to him how terrorists globally have promised to unleash another round of terror on or before xmas and the New Year .

The source lamented the killing in the North Eastern areas of Nigeria , saying a day before what appeared like Boko Haram officials arresting Nigerian Army personnel and killing them took place .

Due to the fact that this type of incident had become a some what daily occurrence  ,this reporter was not taken aback but noted that perhaps another major global war was in the offing since terror groups like I.S.I.S ,Boko Haram  amongst others were now insisting that nations in Europe and elsewhere where Muslim populations abound should be made to enforce the sharia law.

In a newspaper report,Titled:Endless killings :Bandits ,terrorists kill 64,428 Nigerians in a decade written by This Nigerian Newspapers on its page 14 ,revealed that the figures did not include those killed in Zabarmari village,Bornu State.

At least 110 farmers are believed to have died in the blood orgy that was unleashed recently by extremists in the aforementioned village.

The deaths according to the press was due to Boko Haram,Iswap, banditry, farmers, herders, clashes, cult activities, mob action, police brutality and ritual killings.

The Nigerian director of Global Rights Nigeria ,Mr Abiodun Baiyewu –Teru said the figures were obtained from authentic sources and doubly verified by them so as to create a data base for the number of death.

She lamented the high level of illiteracy captured by the United Nations Children Emergency Fund [Unicef ]Current out of school children data put at 13.5 million young Nigerians whom she branded potential terrorists    if the government does not provide a safety net for their future welfare…

According to her ,while it will not be a bad idea to remove the Armed Forces high command service chiefs ,replacing them only with competent hands will be the only ideal quick fix to the arrangement .

In a related issue,Miss Zahira Usman ,a lady from Chibok ,Bornu state had also expressed deep sadness over the killing fields of the North Eastern parts of Nigeria.

Recalling the unfortunate incident that led to the kidnappings at the Government College in Chibok ,Bornu State ,Miss Usman noted that about 164 of the Chibok girls had regained their freedom with 112 among them remaining on the missing list.

According to her,all the 111 Dapchi school girls and aboy abducted by Boko Haram have been released save for Leah Sharibu who has continued to defy their calls to renounce the Christian faith .

In a related issue,an aide worker ,Grace Taku ,also kidnapped by Boko Haram on the 18th of July,2020 ,claimed that Leah Sharibu alongside a certain Alice ,another aid worker had both been killed in still but very unclear circumstances as at press time.

In recent times ,the killing tactics of the walking demons in the North Eastern parts of Nigeria has since changed from just mere shootings to extreme measures like beheading ,decapitation ,slaughtering  fellow humans like rams ,burning of corpse amongst other forms of heinous crimes unchallenged by the regular security forces near- by.

There are too many cases of reported sabotage which the Nigerian government and its military high command have continually denied
