Believe it or not,Madam Funmi Giwa the wife of late Journalist and Founder of Newswatch Magazine,Mr Dele Giwa now works at Globacom Communications Limited in Lagos,Nigeria ,a company in which Former Military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has serious  business interests in.

In a three hours long no hold barred world exclusive interview with The News Office Desk of Paedia Express Multimedia Group in his expansive compound just behind Obasanjo Farms  at Sango Otta in Ogun state of Nigeria,the direct younger brother to the late journalist ,Mr Tunde Giwa lamented his family ‘s continued cry for justice which has refused to come.

He urged the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to take another look at the Justic Chuwudifu Oputa report and submissions on his late brother in which Lagos based Human Rights lawyer, The Late Chief Gani Fawenhinmi fought tirelessly to get his  brother the much expected justice but to no avail.

On whether Former President Babangida ever made any type of efforts at reaching out to the family for the acts of wrong judgment against their son during his lifetime insisted that till the death of their late mother she did not want to associate in any way with anything Babangida  and this was the same principle he and his other siblings were standing upon.

He lashed out angrily at a system that knew what had happened to the family and yet refused Alhaji Abubakar Tsav ,the then Lagos state Police Commissioner at the time from doing his job and wondered aloud about the true state of the famed drug pusher Madam Gloria Okon saying even if she was still alive she could have been made to change her identity due to the several forensic digs around her by the media.

He then went down memory lane and recalled his whereabouts on the day his beloved elder brother was killed via a government engineered parcel bomb.

Tunde Giwa speaks:”I  was living at somewhere around Egbeda area those days when the unfortunate incident took place,it was my nephew,Billy now living in far away United States of America that came to my place to give me the very damaging piece of news even by todays standards I was not even married as at then as I was still very single “

On why fellow Newswatch Magazine directors short changed his late brother,Mr Tunde Giwa  pointed out that when he came back from his overseas sojourn and made enquiries from them they tried to make some excuses   claiming that they were now getting old and could not continue at the same pace with the younger one’s doing the business at this time.

Tunde Giwa continues:”They told me that they sold the firm for a sum of N1Billion to Jimoh Ibrahim ,who had only paid half of it ,I then asked them what Brother Dele’s own was going to be and they then told me that the Director’s amount had not even been paid at the time in question”

“They told me that they had taken Jimoh Ibrahim to court on the matter and it was still in court at the time but they also  informed me at the meeting that the agreement with the buyer was that it was when the entire deal was completed that the intend to hand over key assets like the corporate office or the administrative building of the firm”

“So what we really want to know is  what became of Dele Giwa’s own shares in the entire arrangement, our concern as  a family is that since Dele Giwa died they have never given us a breakdown of what was going on in the company as everybody was just doing whatever the like to my late brother’s memory”

He took a dig at the other directors of the Newswatch magazine now rested for not adding anything to the brand when his brother unexpectedly suddenly passed on at least 30 years ago and affirmed that it was the land that the Newswatch office was built upon that the directors sold to Jimoh Ibrahim as the soul behind the brand which was his brother died with the brand in reality.

He paid tributes to Major Bashorun ,a Former Aide of Military President Ibrahim Babangida for taking a principled stand on the matter regarding his brother which eventually forced him out of his comfort zone despite possible  threats to his life at the time.

Giwa speaks on :”it took us a long time to get the letters of administration and this came up in 2000 and the lawyers representing us asked the directors to furnish us with an information on the firm”

“we were told that Dele Giwa died in 1986 and that they made what looked like any form of profit in 1990,so what it meant was that as at the time this discussion took place the firm had operated 10 years consecutively with nothing to show for it and they did not pay Dele Giwa any dime as if that was not as   bad as the letter bomb in fact it was like killing him the second time “
“The reply that they sent to our lawyers  on the matter :Oyebode and Aluko,showed us that they had Mike Adenuga amongst others on the Board of Directors but  went to the Corporate Affairs Commission[C.A.C],we did not see the reflection of this in documentations”

Mr Giwa agonized that it was when he read over the web in Spain that his brothers’ outfit had been sold without the family’s knowledge that got him worried  and this prompted him to ask his sister Habeebah and another male sibling to enquire on the matter since he was not on ground at the time only to be shocked at an outburst from Ray Ekpu that they had no business in the matter ,a claim he faulted as only he and Madam Funmi Giwa were the official administrators of his brothers estate.

He added that he has lost total hope on his brother ever getting justice with man and has therefore left all to God but quickly added that if anything were to be done then the late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa report should be dusted by government officials and taken seriously in its entirety.
