CRITICALLY ASSESSING ORTOM'S TWO YEARS IN GOVERNANCE.

what is Governor Ortom of Benue  State up to now?

 Benue State from the foregoing needs a man with a creative mind, philosophy and a man of action not just an empty vessel who throughout his life had been in the garage. I am referring to the type of philosophers who pause to reflect on the power of interdependence within a state. For no-one truly is independent. He must rely on uncountable number of people throughout the day, and encourage others to rely on him. Isn't that what governance is all about? In the main, governance in the long run is about people and how these people contribute to the well being and prosperity of others. By the way, Ortom's administration marks its two years today. The journey so far has been hell and like a movement of a butterfly, that has no specific direction to perch. The administration has been tough on civil servants and pensioners in the state. Within the administration's one year in office, many people have regretted bitterly having been easily fallen prey to the numerous lies the APC preached. Pensioners in their numbers have died due to hunger, civil servants have been subjected to pains, senseless borrowings and reduced to beggars
Benue State University Makurdi is closed down and students now wander aimlessly about, some have already been arrested for various crimes, Benue State University teaching hospital Makurdi too is on strike with no skeletal services. Just yesterday news were everywhere that deposited corpses at the hospital mortuary are decomposing as the hospital could not pay it's electricity bills and the company had to disconnect the electrical cables. The APC administration has no hope at all taking the state to the promised land which they profusely preached prior to the 2015 elections. Rather, Ortom and his appointees within this shortest period of time have amassed stupendous wealth, money which came from bailout and Paris club. An administration which campaigned excessively on job creation had to sack graduates from all the local governments and Ministries because they were employed by the previous administration even though, the 28 billion naira bailout captured them. These monies were shared amongst Ortom's appointees which made them today powerful power brokers in their immediate localities. Within two years, our governor is confidently boasting of being the richest farmer in the whole of Nigeria and this, to many of us is true. The 2 billion naira which was borrowed to be used in the dry season farming was swallowed by Oracle farm. Tractors and harvesters that the Benue State bought through ministry of Agriculture have become Ortom's private properties. The question is :was Ortom this rich when he was National Auditor of PDP or Minister? Was he able to brag anywhere of being this rich? Ortom's Goshen bottle water which is in syrup - like size has taken the center stage of the state economy. It has finally replaced the Benue State water board. This is the first time a governor in Benue is concurrently running his private businesses with governance, it has never happened before, but to most of us this is as a result of Illiteracy.
Where are the 700 primary schools we have been hearing and reading about every second? These projects are only on radio. In the first place these projects were awarded to party men and women as compensation. The SUBEB chairman, Rev Dr Philip Tachin, who claims to be a pastor connived with other APC criminals to deceive Benue people. I have gone through almost 15 local governments in Benue but could not see any renovated primary school. Where are the schools? This government has borrowed senselessly in billions, the loans ended up entering into state Assembly pockets and other APC stakeholders. Today salaries and pensions are still a very big task in the state. Every body in Ortom's government has built a new mansion just within two years, but civil servants who have worked for more than twenty years are still being harassed by their landlords.
Ortom is the worst governor since Nigeria's independence in 1960. Who do we blame? We refused from onset to reject the criminality in him. When has he become this holy? What has he achieved within the 2 years of his government?.
Declaration of ghost workers and sharing of their salaries?
Becoming the richest farmer in Nigeria?
-Closing down of BSU and BSUTH?
-Senseless borrowings?
-Embezzlement of bailout and Paris club monies?
-Fruitless trips to China?
-Signing of fake MOUS?
-Owing of workers salaries and pensioners?
-Owing students bursary allowances?
With this rubbish on ground condemned and expired politicians like Jack Gyado, who everybody in the state perceives as enemies of every administration that comes to power in Benue are busy deceiving you of eight years. We thank God for the Senate's electoral law bill. Benue people have started rejecting you and they will continue to reject, you are not qualified to rule a state like Benue.
