DESIGNATION OF PROFESSOR YEMI OSINBAJO,GOOD FOR BALANCE OF POWER
It is with a heavy heart I write you this particular letter knowing fully well that we are at a cross road in our national life with the issue of transfer of power by President Muhammadu Buhari now an issue in the nation’s polity.
This came to our notice at The News office Desk of Paedia Express Multimedia Group that there was what looked like an emerging power tussle between the North and the South and when you add that to the Boko Haram insurgency, this is all too much for a nation to bear.
We have heard all sides of the arguments by various commentators and how it is unconstitutional for Buhari to have done what he did but the fact is a lot of our people do not have an understanding of the power game beyond what they read in the press and this goes beyond that.
My six months or so experience as a full blown war correspondent at The German News Agency opened my eyes to the Command structure of a lot of military formations both locally and globally and speaking frankly without any form of bias,I can say that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is a completely fine gentleman and a great Nigerian who should make a great President any day but rather unfortunately he is not yet ready to be Commander-in-Chief due to our very difficult times of tensed security .
Each time I wake up at night in my bedroom to either study or pray ,I weep in my spirit at where we have found ourselves as a nation ,the fact is we are in a very precarious situation over Boko Haram:Nigeria is at war.
God forbid ,if Boko Haram over runs the North Eastern part of the nation and they take over the entire Northern axis or the whole nation then may be most of our folks seating in their various homes drinking and eating on a daily basis will have an idea of what I am really driving at.
Nobody gave i.s.i.s a dog chance in the Middle East but as at today they have a landed mass akinned to having a country ,Buhari can do the work of a Commander-in-chief from London ,though we would have wished he stays in Nigeria for his treatment .
Due to modern information technological facilities ,President Muhammadu Buhari can get in contact with the military command structure with the speed of lightening to give instructions as the Boko Haram war is fierce right now and it cannot be handled with kid gloves.
Sometimes last year we told the whole wide world via exclusive news and commentaries why Trump won and one of the reasons was that he was more acceptable to the military than Hillary Clinton .
Osinbajo will make a great statesman in peace time but we are at war presently and I do not want to spell everything out to the public otherwise people will be afraid but Buhari’s decision is good for democracy as balance of power will help to sustain it.
When the Nigerian constitution was crafted ,there was no space for terrorism because we did not have such an experience before but now the situation at hand calls for some doctrine of necessity at this time.
In Myanmar,the military out of envy and jealousy refused to hand over to Madam Aun Suu Kyi but the man they handed over to as President was not popular and therefore never accepted by the populace ,so their constitution had to be amended to create a new role called State Counselor .
So each nation has its own peculiarities and I think that President Buhari may have taken note of some previous under currents relating to the war on terror before his latest decision .
I could not have written the United Nations Security Council on Nigeria if in my thinking or reasonable estimation I felt that all was well.
I do pray and hope that you and your colleagues will be properly guided on this matter.
