15 MILITIA GROUPS NOW WIELD POWER IN WESTERN TOGOLAND
BY ABDULMUMINI ADEKU,LAGOS,NIGERIA...
Castle Osu,Ghana's seat of power is seriously troubled at the moment,so bad are things that President Nana Akuffo-Addo apart from trying to strategies to beating his direct challenger to Ghana's highest office ,John Dramani Mahama in December,2020,he now has a new crisis situation that he has to manage on his hands:secession.
As at press time ,30th of September,2020 at around 2;40A.M. Nigeria's local time,an hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time [G.M.T.],same time as The Republic of Ghana ,The Former Gold Coast,The News office Desk of The E.N.M.Paedia Express Multimedia Group of Lagos,Nigeria heard that not less than 15 various militant groups have vowed to secede and create a new nation to be called Western Togoland..
Former Ghana's President ;Mr John Dramani Mahama said that the nation was a sovereign republic and as such nobody anywhere in the world can lay claims to any of its territories without an official and legal consequence...
He made this very clear assertion recently while holding his political campaign audience with Jinijini chieftains in Ghana over the reported crisis in Volta Region of the nation..
A lawyer who could not be immediately identified but who nonetheless claimed that some people who were seen protesting on behalf of the Western Togoland but got arrested instead ,noted that the protesters were actually his clients and that none of them was guilty for what they got arrested for as they were not even armed as at when apprehended by law enforcement agents of Ghana.
It was gathered that as protests erupted over the plight of the people of Western Togoland last week ,a man got killed in the protests with his family insisting on Justice on the matter aside from the need to perform a ritual...
In their somewhat opposite opinions on the issue, two members of The Ghana Parliament threw more light to the conflict at hand in recent parley with Ghana's daily news channel;Joy News Television..
Mr Seth Acheampong ,Member of Parliament representing Mpreaso constituency insisted that those attempting secession in Volta region were criminals trying to destabilize Ghana and was quick to thank the security forces for being able to quickly bringing the issue under control.
Acheampong pointed out that only 2 out of about 8 constituencies in Volta region were actually thinking of leaving Ghana hence labeling the rebels as highly unserious...
Mr Alhassan Suhuyini in his own contributions said that Castle Osu in Accra should not jump to conclusion on the matter but wait for the leadership of the rebels to own up to their responsibilities .
He warned that the Accra polity should look critically at the issues raised by the rebels instead of just discarding them altogether as a no issue .
Suhuyini speaks :"if we do not address some of their complains ,which for me are germane then they can use it as a platform to rubble rouse ,the reasons they have raised are okay but not enough to secede"
As at press time, agency reports monitored by the News office Desk of the E.N.M.Paedia Express Multimedia Group of Lagos,Nigeria via its Multi Television Free Digital Satellite channel;Joy News showed that members of the group behind the rebellion to secede have since gone on to attack a police station in Ghana aside from vandalizing its property..
Another attack was also reported in Ho,Capital of Volta region by the separatists in Western Togoland with no direct group coming out to laying claim to any form of responsibilities for the spate of attacks in recent weeks and months..
In a related issue ,on about 2:00A.M. local time on the 29th of September,2020 ,it was gathered that some armed men with guns to the teeth had attacked the STC Bus Terminal at Ho ,in Volta region which would appear is the epicenter of the entire secession crisis in Ghana ...
A driver at the bus terminal purported to have been an eye witness to the unfortunate incident was injured by the gun men in the ensuing melee and had since been taken to a local hospital for treatment..
It would appear that apart from trauma his injuries were not life threatening as at press time as he was believed to be making a recovery .
Mr Adam Bonaa ,a top Ghanaian security analyst in his own contributions to the growing inferno revealed that what had started like a movement by a certain Papavi and his friends or group had since grown into about 15 militia groups all claiming t wishes' to secede and with all types of agenda on the table.
He pointed out that the increase in the number of the militia groups was due to possible split in ideology .
He lashed out at the security network and wondered why thee has being no emergency session of Ghana's Parliament on the matter .
He picked holes on the level of forensic inquiries on the crisis saying he was shocked to discover that the security forces removed the secessionist flags instead of leaving them so as to use them to investigate their finger prints...
