It had being a cliche for so very long a time and that is the fact that  Nigeria produces apple too in its Jos Plateau region ..

But recently,The News office Desk of the E.N.M.Paedia Express Multimedia Group of Lagos,Nigeria was told by an impeccable source who markets the first in Lagos,Nigeria ,that the Nigerian variety was not fantastic after all..

The source revealed that if the Jos Plateau variety is to be eaten ,it usually tastes like an unripe fruit akinned to taking cashew..

The source however singled out Apple fruits from South Africa saying that it was the best and even going ahead to rate it ahead of French imports as well...

Accepted, we live in the tropics and bell apple is a temperate plant. But with a twist and doing the right thing, you can getapple to grow in Nigeria in places like the Jos Plateau, mambilla and the Obudu plateau. Planting apples is highly lucrative and the fruit is in high demands

Major fruits produced in Nigeria include mango, pineapple, plantain/banana, citrus, guava, pawpaw, while vegetables include onion, tomato, okra, pepper, amaranthus, carrot, melon, Corchorus olitorus (ewedu), Hibiscus sabdariffa (sobo), Adansonia digtata (baobab leaves).

Depending on the type, one apple is sold at N150, N100 and N50. According to him onecarton of apple is purchased at varied prices of N15, 000, N10, 000, N9,000 and N8,000.  before the recent change in Nigeria's petroleum pricing which should affect pricing almost immediately...
