Thanks to the professionalism and track record that the Colombian Air Force has established at the international level, a new combined training exercise will be carried out, with the participation of aircraft from the U.S. Air Force, ships from the U.S. Navy, and aircraft from the Colombian Air Force. The objective is to strengthen procedures and standards in the detection, location, and neutralization of illicit activities of the transnational crime of narcotrafficking.

This operational exercise planned between U.S. Southern Command and the Colombian Air Force, dubbed “Poseidon”, will take place September 18-21, 2020, in the maritime area of Coveñas, Sucre department.

The training will allow optimizing the FAC’s interoperability and strengthening procedures to interdict, intercept, and neutralize illicit maritime targets, as well as performing in-flight refueling maneuvers and search and rescue in open waters, under the North Atlantic Treaty Organization international standards.

The Colombian Air Force continuously seeks to train its crews to strengthen distinctive capabilities to fulfill its constitutional mission of guaranteeing Colombians security and defense.
