FULANI HERDSMEN CONTINUES MASSACRE
BY HENRY IBYA,LUKE IKYAATOR
Fulani massacre of Tiv villagers in Buruku: about five villagers were
murdered by Fulani herdsmen about three days ago; Many surviving
villagers in the LGA are leaving for
other parts of Benue State. No arrests are reported to have been made;
but Gov. Samuel Ortom has ordered Fulani herdsmen to leave Buruku LGA
within two days.
However, the governor has not said they should
leave the state entirely; hence the herdsmen are heading towards Gboko
LGA and tension is rising there right now. It is likely that a serious
security threat is in the offing in Benue State, because the herdsmen
are seen by villagers as killers and Gboko is tensed up thinking death
is coming their way. Soldiers are reportedly noticed in unusual numbers
in Gboko town, which has further dampened the security threat to
Tivland. This post must be taken seriously by Nigeria. If Fulani-Tiv war
starts in Gboko the heart of Tivland, it will certainly affect the
entire country.
