PAEDIA EXPRESS MULTIMEDIA’S POSITION ON AWARDS AND OTHER
PUBLICS
Recently somebody queried our Founder,Mr Abdulmumini Adeku
on how it was possible that the likes of The Guardian Newspapers ,The Nation
Newspapers whom he had being protesting in the past about for lacking in ethics
and transparency had being winning awards and getting nominations in torrents
with Paedia Express not getting any form of mention in Nigeria especially at the recent Nigerian
Media Merits Awards[N.M.M.A] ,The Diamond Awards on Media Excellence [D.A..M.E]
and the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Awards and his response was
swift.
1]winning awards ,getting nominations and recognition from professional
colleagues is great but that is not the ultimate reason for journalism as the
trade is more for a positive societal change.
2]N.M.M.A,D.A.M.E. awards are promoted by hungry men who are
ready to look for money anywhere and that includes visiting satan and this is
why they arrange awards for questionable characters despite the harm this same
people have done to the profession.
3]No disrespect to the Founder of Premium Times ,Mr Dapo
Olorunyomi, who is also closely linked to the Freedom House which snowballed
into what is today called the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Reporting
and Awards.
His company: Premium Times also has a lot of characters he
worked with at Timbuktu Media, owners of now rested The Next Newspapers .
Some of these characters have ended up on the judging panel
of the awards and all of these aforementioned is enough reasons for Premium
Times never to participate in the awards.
But this is not the case as every year they cart away an
award they are linked to thus making a mockery of the entire process.
We at Paedia Express Multimedia Group will never lower
standards of true journalism because of the lure of bread and butter and so we
have decided to excuse ourselves from the chain of chaos in the local media
industry and even to some extent in the
global media industry.
We are not surprised at the recent level of rot as exposed
in the trade by the conducts of certain media barons but it has always being like this for all of
living memory and anytime Mr Adeku protests publicly for sanity ,he is called
all sorts of names ranging from
blackmailer ,to been called a lunatic among other obscene cat calls by charlatans
who use their various school certificates to deceive the public into calling
them professional journalists.
Our Founder, Mr Adeku has been involved in the printing and
publishing trade since 2005 having done free sheet newspaper called First Voice
Newspapers, E.N.M. Business and Economy newspapers, Economic News Online and
the current tabloid weekly, Paedia Express Newspapers but has always refused to join up with the
rogue body called The Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria [N.P.A.N]
because of his believes that they were a group set up by self centered people
to make money at the expense of
humanity,well,if it was a lie then recent developments clearly vindicates Mr
Adeku’s long standing professional decision and conviction on the subject.
Paedia Express Multimedia and its founder has however supported and endorsed the idea
behind the recent incorporation of the Guild of Online and Softsell Publishers
of Nigeria [G.O.S.P.N.] to which we are a partner and as such associated with.
We do not expect N.P.A.N. to be prescribed but the members
should clean up there mess before it is too late.
