If you as much as think that business man ,scholar and media baron Mr Omoyele Sowoore will bow out of the scene if he loses out of The Presidential contest in 2019 then you are making a grave error.

A source very close to him in a brief chat with this reporter said that Sowoore 's Presidential aspirations and dream was a long term project and that even if he does not succeed 2019 he will han on to the struggle with his plans.

BIODATA

Omoyele Sowore (born 16 February 1971) is a Nigerian human rights activist, pro-democracy campaigner and founder of online news agency Sahara Reporters.^[1]

Early life and education

Sowore is an indigene of ilaje Ondo State in South West Nigeria. He was born in the Niger Delta region of the country where he was also raised in a polygamous home with sixteen children.^[2] At 12, he learnt how to ride a motorcycle so that he could fish at the lake for the entire family before going to school every morning. His passion and desire for media was propelled during the military rule in Nigeria.^[3]

Sowore studied Geography and Regional Planning at the University of Lagos from 1989 to 1995 with his academic program extended by two extra years after being expelled twice for political reasons and student activism. He was the President of the University of Lagos Student Union Government between 1992 and 1994^[4] where he was keenly involved in anti-cultism and anti-corruption advocacy. He holds a Master degree in Public Administration from Columbia University. ^[5]

Career

Activism

In 1989, he took part in student demonstrations protesting the conditions of an International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan of $120 million to be used for a Nigerian oil pipeline. Among the conditions of the IMF loan were to reduce the number of universities in the country from 28 to 5.^[6]

Sowore led 5,100 students in protest against the Nigerian government in 1992. The protest resulted in police opening fire and seven being killed. Sowore was arrested and tortured. He was also involved in the demand for democratic government taking over military rule in June 12, 1993. This resulted in several arrests, detentions and life threatening treatment by government officials.^[7]

Sahara Reporters

Sowore started Sahara Reporters in a small room in Manhattan 2006 to fight against corrupt and wrong government practices.^[5] Sahara Reporters is supported by grants donated by the Ford Foundation and Omidyar Foundation. As part of its policy, the medium does not accept adverts and financial support from the Nigerian government.^[8]

Presidential campaign

On February 25, 2018, Sowore announced his intention to run for president in the 2019 Nigerian general election.^[9] In August 2018, he founded a political party, the African Action Congress (AAC), for which he will run for in 2019.^[10]

If the said sum is calculated viz-a-viz the number of people that voted for the party then the total amount involved in the political ,sorry financial transactions will be mind buggling for a state that was a chronic debtor of workers' salaries at some point in history :how tragic

As at Sunday,23rd of September,2018 at about 9 :30 A.M.m live scores or results of the polls monitored by this reporter showed that Senator Ademola Adeleke was clearly in the lead with a defeat being predicted for his direct rival,however it would appear messages been sent via wiretaps placed on this reporter by The Nigerian Presidency alerted them of the possible loss of their candidate,Oyetola and they set in my muscling the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] to likely engineer a crisis that necessitated a halt to part of the proceedings leading to what it termed an inconclusive poll.

Sources also informed this reporter of how an INEC personnel tore an electoral document into shreds instead of allowing the law to decide the incident thus fuelling speculations of the true intentions of the agent even as the electoral body has come into the fray to throw its support to its personnel thus baffling analysts.

On the eve of the re-run of the same governorship elections in some sections of Ile ife and other villages remaining ,both P.D.P. and the A.P.C. with its political heavyweights threw everything into the ring to see to the emergence of their candidate with both parties claiming that Senator Iyiola Omisore who was trailing in a distant third place in the contest had given his supporters the nod to vote for them while a particular version claimed that Senator Omisore had denied this school of thought very strongly and had told his supporters to vote for their conscience but it would appear that whether true or imagined A.P.C'S Propaganda on this particular subject eventually won the day.

In a related issue,a highly respected voice in grass root politics in Ifako Ijaiye ,Lagos,Nigeria but a member of the Peoples Democratic Party [P.D.P.]told this reporter that while on a short visit to Ede in Oshun State on the 1st of September,2018 to attend a social gathering ,a party thrown by a pal of his in celebration of an event he was stunned to discover at the party of people who came to beg for remnants of food eaten by the invited guests at the party .

The source lamented that in the light of this particular incident which he witnessed and was not told he was surprised at the quality of figures allotted to the ruling All Progressives Congress [A.P.C] as votes casted at both the initial elections and at the re-run of the Oshun State 2018 governorship polls.

It was also reliably gathered through multiple sources that accredited media were not allowed at the polling booths to monitor the proceedings as unbiased umpires as expected by local and global laws thus throwing more questions than answers as to the motive of INEC and its true roles in the entire scheme.

In the same vein ,as at 5;30A.M. on the 27th of September,2018 ,the day of the re-run polls ,an impeccable source had told this reporter of how his close pal and National Secretary of The Nigerian Scouts Federation;Barrister Tope Elushogbon ,a P.D.P stalwart and an indigene of ile ife was brutally attacked and wounded badly ,however as at press time it has still not being ascertained whether the mortally injured will survive the attack .

In a related issue,yet another source told this reporter that the A.P.C had over 280 votes at Ile-ife with P.D.P. a paltry 15 votes excluding the hinterlands.

The source pointed out that he heard that there had being an outbreak of violence as at press time .

An indigene of Oshun state living in Lagos,Nigeria told this reporter of how a pregnant woman was also attacked during the poll.

As at press time,a free for all fight had ensured with supporters of both parties said to have engaged themselves in direct physical combat with accusations and counter accusations of vote rigging ,vote buying ,voters intimidation and other forms of arm twisting tactics renting the air as a result.

By the morrow,multiple sources told this reporter about how Senator Iyiola Omisore who was one of the party's to the poll was duly rewarded with a sum of N480Million as payments for his electioneering expense despite other perks added to the bouquet even as some insiders contest this amount as at press time.

A source insisted that it was not Omisore 's position that won the polls eventually as A.P.C had already hatched its plans to rig to win at all cost before the election.

Except if there are certain aspects of the legal rulings of The Supreme Court of Justice of Nigeria in the case brought before it by Messrs Chris Giwa as petitioner and Mr Amaju Pinnick the defendant in the protracted battle over who is the legitimate President of The Nigerian Football Federation[N.F.F.],we dare say that the latter is now very guilty of contempt of court by his decisions not to step down for Mr Giwa to be sworn in as the Unopposed candidate of the recently held elections in far away Katsina, Northern Nigeria.

If Giwa had been allowed to be The President of the body, this would have being in tandem with the subsisting Supreme Court judgment which is strongly believed to be in the favor of Giwa who understandably and rightly too did not take part in the polls.

We do believe that the decisions by the N.F.F ,its stakeholders which is self serving and not in national interest in any way should now be met with the full wrath of the Nigerian laws as the conspiracy of the sporting fraternity against the will of the Nigerian masses has now clearly brought the laws of the land into a serious disrepute and we do believe that this should come with its sanctions otherwise others will borrow a cue from it.

This medium sees the election that took place in Katsina yesterday as null and void in the light of the Supreme Court ruling on same subject.

An impeccable source during a chat with this reporter said that at the moment Alpha Beta consulting was raking in N1.6trillion in liquid cash annually but that sadly a hole of a fraudulent N160Billion has being discovered by eagle eyes E.F.C.C. operatives who also discovered that Tinubu has consistently refused to pay taxable income despite his big liquidity.

A source had also revealed of plans to impeach The Governor by members of the Lagos state House of Assembly if he were to resign his membership of the All Progressives Congress [A.P.C.]to cross carpet to any rival political body so as to be able to contest in the 2019 polls.

At the moment,the odds are stacked against the Governor if he bites the dust in the forthcoming direct primaries of the party to pick a new candidate to fly the party's ticket for the 2019 polls.

If he leaves A.P.C to cross carpet to another political party in the scheme of things he could be impeached thus becoming a damaged goods politically except if he seeks a judicial interpretation.

If he stays in A.P.C ,then his foes will allow him to walk away in May,2019 and there will be no forms of impeachment or damage done to his names and in the future if the party is still full control at the centre perhaps President Muhammadu Buhari can remember him for his services to the people and for been a good boy by not leaving the party.

He can also turn himself to a Sylvester Stallone styled Hollywood movie Rambo and order security men to barricade The Lagos state House of Assembly [L.S.H.A]and prevent them from holding any formal sittings from now till the time of the elections with the mace stolen as well to stifle any forms of impeachment while contesting under another party's ticket other than the A.P.C.

Though we are not asking him to do anything illegal ,Well we are only wondering aloud the ball is in Governor Akinwunmi Ambode's court ,his next actions on this highly contentious matter will go a long way in determining his place in history or destiny.
