The Investment profile of both the South Western University and the Lagos City Polytechnic believed to have been started by Engineer Ade Odufuwa may be standing at not less than N5Billion as at today
It would be recalled that the privately owned Lagos City Polytechnic recently held its
tenth convocation in Lagos.
At the epoch making event held inside the blue roof of the
Lagos Television in Alausa in Ikeja ,Lagos ,Nigeria ,as many as about 700
students were graduated by the citadel .
The President of the Governing Council of the institution ,Engineer
Ade Odufuwa while congratulating the students and their parents respectively
affirmed that he was sure that the school had equipped the students with the
vital am munitions to succeed in life.
He hoped that the students will not disappoint them with the
kind of tutelage they got with them in the school when they face various forms
of hurdles as they move into other areas of human Endeavour later on in life.
He went down memory lane and recalled that Polytechnic
education was introduced by stakeholders in the polity to bridge the gap in technological
advancement of Nigeria as it aides in practical experiences in major areas of
the nation’s economy.
He lamented the dangers that examination malpractice now
poses to the nations educational system
and warned those still involve to desist as the crime now carries a
twenty years jail term.
He insisted that anyone who has achieved success through
cheating will only enjoy the benefit for a while after which he or she would
have little or nothing to contribute to the growth of the system.
He urged Nigerians in various strata to learn to respect
the ethics and rules of engagement of the fields they find themselves As this
was the bane of the Nigerian society.
A lecturer who stood in for one of the key note speakers on the
day told the gathering the importance of imbibing the culture of entrepreneurship
in the society while urging the student to hold on tenaciously to every dream
that they have as students.
The guest lecturer used
the metamorphosis of a butterfly from
the period it is in its cocoon to describe the travails of every man that
aspires to be great in life.
His words:”Thomas Edisson had to perform at least 10,000
experiments before he could achieve a
break through, Charles Goodyear was performing an experiment on vulcanization
of rubber and this he discovered while
he was in prison “
“a lot of us want jobs instead of entrepreneurship ,if all
us look for work who will provide the jobs,there should be a model for this and
this will involve sensitizing a lot of stakeholders to that effect”
“we should collaborate with various groups ,Governor
Akinwunmi Ambode has just set aside N25Billion for wealth creation in the next
five years hence I think we should find out what are the modalities for this”
“The institute is ready to set up an entrepreneurship fund
aside from allowing for mentorship solutions such that we will build a software
to match mentors with mentees”
Paedia Express Multimedia also gathered that Engineer Ade
Odufuwa who founded the institution from humble beginnings has just been
licensed by the National University Commission to start up the South Western
University in Ogun State,Nigeria.
An impeccable source told this reporter that at least a sum
of N3Billion had being splashed on the school’s permanent site at Okun Owa
Village ,somewhere around kilometer 20 along Sagamu Benin Expressway.
It is now strongly believed that with the Lagos Polytechnic Investments,Engineer Ade Odufuwa would not have invested less than a sum of N5billion into Nigeria's educational services in the last decade conservatively.
