Catholics to partner Nigeria on education By Henry Ibya, Abuja



Supreme President of the knight of St. John international (KSJ) United States of America (USA) Supreme Commandery, General Dale G Gossiaux has promised to partner with the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the area of Education to bring about improvement in the Sector.

 General Gossiaux who disclosed the intention of the catholic international organization to newsmen after he led a delegation of Nigerian National officials of the body who paid a visit to President Jonathan in Abuja said they were In Nigeria to supervise various projects especially from the educational sector and also access and evaluate the progress of work and were happy that the work is progressing steadily and the people are also doing well.

General Gossiaux also acknowledges the huge investment made by the Nigerian government in the area of education and said the organization hope to compliment government efforts through the construction of structures and as well intervene in the provision of educational Materials as a way of assisting government, realizing education to be a major industry in the country.

He said this visit afforded the team the opportunity to visit projects sites in Lagos, Portharcourt and Enugu where the body is carrying out the construction of a school as well as Abuja and expressed satisfaction that the knight of St. John in Nigeria was doing well.

He assured the Federal government that the organization will continue to so it’s best to assist where necessary.

Receiving the team on behalf of the Nigerian Federal Government the Acting Minister Foreign Affair Prof. Viola Onwirili acknowledged the organizations efforts towards the maintenance of peace internationally and promised that as a member of the group she will emulate the footsteps of the Founder St John by also ensuring that the Nation has peace.

She said Jonathan’s administration through the Transformation agenda blue print in all spheres wants to transform the country in all spheres by giving preference to good governance adding that it was in recognition to this that the Malian government recently bestowed on president Jonathan the highest award of the Land.

She also told the visiting delegation that government was doing every thing possible to ensure that the issue of Boko Haram is completely overcome and therefore called on those willing to invest in the country to be free to do so noting that the market will be there for them
