Lord Stephenson Robert Badden Powell, a Lieutanant General of the British Army started the scout Movement almost a century ago and till this day even his descendants identify with the movement.
He died and was buried in Kenya in East Africa ,a place that served as his last official service point before his death.
Paedia Epress Multimedia discovered at the event marking the founders day recently that scouts all over the world usually shake hands with each other using the left hands as this is where the human heart resides.
According to them ,the cultural landmark became rooted in their culture due to peace pact signed by the founder and a Kenyan tribal chief during a time of war and strife.
A source noted that if a man truly gives you his heart then it means that he can be trusted at all times.
Spiritual dedication ceremonies was held in the Church on Sunday and mosque on Friday before the fiesta was rounded up with a parade at the African Church Primary School.
The National Training Commissioner of the Nigeria Scout Federation ,Chief Sunday Lawrence Ogunyale used the occasion to extol the good virtues of the founder of the movement while enjoining others to copy from such lofty ideals in their lifetime.
In a related issue,The Lagos State Scout Commissioner, Chief J.O.Tawoshe used the event to dwell on the importance of the last speech of Lord Badden Powell to our national life at a time Nigeria was at a cross road .
He paraphrased the founder:”I have had a most happy life and I want each one of you to have as happy a life too,I believe that God put us in this jolly world to be happy and enjoy life ,happiness does not come from being rich nor merely from being successful in your career nor by self indulgence ,one step towards happiness is to make yourself healthy and strong while you are a boy so that you can be useful and so can enjoy life when you are a man”
