Nigeria’s
chances of actualizing its growth potentials and catching up with the developed
world in an increasingly competitive global environment can only be achieved
through training and continual human resource development. In the prevailing
new knowledge economy, the human brain and its consistent improvement remains
the key to unleashing rapid economic development.
Mr SuleBichi, the Managing Director of Red Star
Express Plc, emphasized this at the closing ceremony of the Strategic training
session for the company’s sales
force and key operational personnel, He noted that, “though
training is highly spoken about in both the private and public sector, it is
yet to be fully inculcated in the fabric of our developmental scheme; and
during economic hardships, training is one of the quickest disposable
activities. Paradoxically, the contrary should be the case, as any organization
or nation is only as good as the quality of its people. We at Red Star Express
have long taken this long term approach and we see training both as an end and
a means to an end.”
In order to continue offering world-class
quality service, the foremost courier company, Red Star Express Plc, recently
concluded training of over a hundred staff. There were 30 participants
representing a cross-section of sales team and key operational personnel with
the theme “Winning
the Negotiation Game” and a
total of 109 field supervisors were also trained. The trainees were attached to
master-trainers who had been tested and approved by FedEx for the programme.
The master-trainers were chosen based on their proficiency and ability to
impart knowledge on others.
The objectives of the training were for the
trained staff to expand and improve sales team knowledge on negotiation,
presentation skills, approaching customers and to continuously embrace the
company’s brand
essence and work culture. The training is Industrial Training Fund certified.
At the end of the training, participants were issued Certificates of
Participation.
TonyePreghafi, Training Manager Red Star
Express, after the completion of the training said “we aim
to encourage all employees to develop their capabilities within a supportive
learning culture. Developing the expertise and careers of everyone within the
business is central to serving our customers effectively. It is a very
competitive industry, so we must possess superior skills in every key area of
business to stay ahead. The culture of training and re-training staff is a
continuous exercise and part of our corporate philosophy to keep our workforce
abreast of emerging trends in the global business practice.”
