By Oladunni Kosoko and Abdulmumini Adeku
Our Friend Hospital celebrated all Mothers on the day Mother’s day was celebrated on 1st of May,2015.
In his speech at the event,Cheif Medical Director,Dr Isa Mohammed Tosin said that as far as the issue of Children was concerned ,one of the major pitfalls with our system was that  we operate in ignorance as they were not taken to the hospital anytime they fall sick.
He lamented the fact that some careless parents actually wait till the children convulse before they go to the hospital.
He painted a gory picture of how poverty had ensured that parents get into trouble hence find it difficult to do the needful appropriately.
In his own contributions, Prince Sulaiman Olagunju, Chairman, Al Bank Micro Finance Limited who was represented said that a baby must be celebrated at all times every day of our lives.
He implored every mummy to make sure that every advice given to them is followed  to the latter during pregnancy.
Dr Mrs Blessing Udemezue in her own submission affirmed that having a healthy child starts immediately after conception.
She warned of dire consequences if an aspiring mother refuses  to respect medical instructions given to her on such things like ante natal drugs, exercise, dancing among other things that can enrich the heavy mother.
She urged women to learn to use things like olive oil to help smoothen the breasts and the nipples as they prepare for their babies.
She explained that breast feeding helps to build a very strong emotional bond between the mothers and the newly born baby when they arrive.
The medical Doctor pointed out that the immune system  of a newly born baby was usually very low hence anybody who wishes to carry them aside from the biological mother should be neat  hygienically.
She noted that aside from maintaining a good positioning when breast feeding ,a mother should also try to not to keep inter changing her breast for the baby during a single feed as this was not healthy.
Dr  Udemezue also told the gathering that breast feeding was healthy in that it helps to keep the child away from unwanted diseases
In a related issue, Dr Isoken who was also at the event said that the blood pressure of both mother and the child should also be adequately monitored as this can result into death if not done.
Baby Abdulqadir Ismail who was the first child to be delivered at the  hospital at inception  was  later presented with a bicycle as a gift in the presence of his very proud mother.
Dr Mrs Okunmuyide, the Hospital’s Director of Social Welfare  thanked God almighty for the gift he gave to each of the family for giving them  the children.
She added that though the hospital Was a  profit making one they were at the same time interested in giving back to the general public.
