May has seen her
authority totally collapse in the last few days as she pledged to bring her
already horrendously popular Brexit deal back to the House of Commons.
Tories
were in open revolt over the plans which the PM had cooked up as cross-party
talks collapsed with Labour.
There
were open calls for her resignation, and May this morning met with the chairman
of powerful backbench 1922 Committee, Sir Graham Brady.
She
has since announced she will step down as PM and Tory leader on June 7.
And
less than three years since she took over as PM following the EU Referendum,
May's leadership consumed by the Brexit divisions which have paralysed the
Commons.
The
next PM would deal with the same challenges – but would be hoped to be a
unifying force amongst the party and finally deliver Brexit before the deadline
of October 31.
