The Nigerian foam manufacturing industry was recently set agog in Ilorin ,Kwara state capital in the Midlands in Nigeria as one of the nation's major foam manufacturer ,The United Foams Nigeria Limited re-opened its doors for business after some years in the doldrums due to what was said to have being a  case of liquidation by insiders.
Checks by The News office Desk of the E.N.M.Paedia Express Multimedia Group of Lagos,Nigeria recently showed that the company's array of products was now back into the mainstream Nigerian market to fight for its chunk of market share with the likes of Mouka Foam.
Interestingly ,a source who seems to me a major distributor to the company told this reporter that the group recently celebrated its 37th year in business with a lot of fanfare in Ilorin after a near case of business extinction.
The source gave thanks to God at the resilience showed by the Lebanese family who owned the company  ,adding that the foremost foam maker now has a Lagos manufacturing plant in Mushin  so as to make there products available for the commercial nerve centre of the nation faster and may be possibly for the international market when there are openings for exports..

NIGER!!!!FRENCH FORTRESS PROTECTS AGADEZ PROJECT

NIGER!!!FRENCH FORTRESS PROTECTS AGADEZ PROJECT
BY ABDULMUMNI ADEKU.LAGOS,NIGERIA.
The heavily fortified French National Army stationed in the Niger Republic under both nations bilateral relationship is said to be one of the main unique selling points into an over $200,000 agricultural dairy pasteurization project which is currently under way in Agadez in Niger Republic.
In a live phone interview session with The News office Desk of the E.N.M.Paedia Express Multimedia Group of Lagos,Nigeria ,The Project Coordinator ,Pastor Olu Sunday insisted that no single individual ,corporate or even faith based community has come forward to identify or be part of the epoch making project in the Sahara .

He however used the time to call on all Nigerians as well as the global community to come to his aid ,he thanked the French government for helping to provide a water tight fortress in the area that has helped to check the activities of terrorists in the Sahara.
He praised this medium for coming forward with the intentions to be a major partner in the project .
The Sahara Desert is principally made up of Bedouin tribal herdsmen and groups amongst which are the following :Touaregs,Fulani,Toubon,Kanuri,Adar,Arabs and over 200 other tribal groups.
It is believed by historians and archeologists that people from the ancient cities of Tyre an Sidon in the present day Sinai Peninsular /Syria/Lebanon/Jordan/Israel moved in the course of nomadism to a place in Niger Republic now called Agadez in Niger Republic in modern times..
The Touaregs who are the most prolific of the desert region of the Sahara are to be found in Niger,Mali,Algeria,Libya and Chad.
It was gathered in the course of study that a pastoral resource centre worth a 7,000 square meters of land worth $200,000 has being given approval by the leadership of the Republic of Niger..
Pastor Olu Sunday who is the Founder of The Missionary Outreach International in Agadez in Niger Republic pointed out that the area had some economic pitfalls in that it has a challenge in finding a market for their production ,it uses ancient techniques for dairy processing and marketing ,it uses the milk it produces for self only, the people of the desert are going through a period of starvation presently.
The Clergy explained that the centre will aid in the training of modern technique and treatment of the livestock thus giving them a marketing platform for the whole world..
Israeli outfit,Tessa dairies is said to be involved in the project.
It was also discovered that though the project was being initiated by a christain group the aim was not to forcefully make everyone a Christian as far as he visioneer of the scheme was concerned..

frontline Nigerian journalist Lekan Otufodunrin bares it all on career opportunities in the press

The first time I travelled out of Nigeria was in 1998 for a three-month all expenses paid Advanced Journalism fellowship in Cardiff, United Kingdom organised by Thomson Foundation.
Before then I had always wondered why I had remained a local journalist while some of my colleagues were travelling round the world attending various training programmes.
I broke the jinx and since then have enhanced my career with various fellowships, awards and training opportunities locally and abroad.
I have successfully recommended many journalists for fellowships and training.
I have also been interacting with many top journalists on how they won fellowship, awards and other opportunities.
I will be speaking on this topic at the workshop below:

DEADLY YEAR FOR MIGRANTS GLOBALLY SAYS THE UNITED NATIONS

2019: A deadly year for migrants crossing the Americas

More than 800 people died last year crossing deserts, rivers and remote lands while migrating across the Americas, making 2019 one of deadliest years on record, the UN migration agency said on Tuesday.
Data from the Missing Migrants Project (MMP), collected at the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Data Analysis Centre in Berlin, indicate that it was the highest number of deaths documented in this region since IOM began keeping records six years ago.
Since 2014, more than 3,800 deaths have been recorded across the continent.
“These numbers are a sad reminder that the lack of options for safe and legal mobility pushes people onto more invisible and riskier paths, putting them at greater danger”, said Frank Laczko, Director of IOM’s Data Analysis Centre.
“The loss of lives should never be normalized nor tolerated as an assumed risk of irregular migration.”
Close to 2,500 deaths since 2014
The region surrounding the United States–Mexico border is one of the deadliest for migrants, with the number growing each year. The MMP has documented a total of 2,403 deaths since 2014, including 497 in 2019.
Most were recorded in the waters of the Río Bravo/Rio Grande river, which runs between the Texas border and the Mexican states of Tamaulipas, Nuevo León and Coahuila, where 109 people lost their lives last year.
This represents a 26 per cent increase from the 86 deaths recorded in 2018.
Many people also attempt crossing through the remote rugged terrain of the vast Arizona desert region, where at least 171 people died in 2019 – a 29 per cent jump over the 133 deaths documented in this area in 2018.
Missing Migrants Project data are compiled by IOM staff based at its Global Migration Data Analysis Centre but come from a variety of sources, some of which are unofficial.

Top destination: US

Back in November, IOM reported that 2019 saw an estimated 270 million migrants crossing international borders, and, at nearly 51 million, the United States was the most desirable destination.
News reports have painted pictures of desperate asylum-seekers giving up their children at the border, hoping that they may have a better life. Some migrant parents have sent their unaccompanied children across the border to surrender to US agents.

Yemen: Escalation in fighting must stop ‘before it’s too late’, Griffiths tells Security Council

The UN Special Envoy for Yemen told an emergency session of the Security Council on Tuesday that a recent upsurge in violence between pro-Government and rebel forces following weeks of relative calm, had to end “before it’s too late”.
Martin Griffiths briefed ambassadors in New York behind closed doors, but said in a tweet posted to his office account that he had “reiterated the importance of stopping the ongoing military escalation…He warned that recent developments jeopardize the progress the parties had made on de-escalation and confidence-building.”
The renewed fighting between Saudi-led coalition forces and Houthi rebels, formally known as Ansar Allah, has seen air raids stepped up northeast of the capital Sana’a, leading to many casualties amid fierce fighting, according to news reports, while rebels have reportedly gone on the offensive in Government-held areas, including a mortar attack which struck a market in the city of Taiz.
Reports suggest that fighting has escalated in three areas, in Nehm, close to Sana’a, the mountainous district of Jawf in the north, and the province of Marib, where a missile attack on a Government military base in the middle of January, reportedly left more than 100 dead.
On Monday, Mr. Griffiths told the Guardian newspaper that “whoever started this renewed violence, it is unequivocally the case that there has been a huge rupture of confidence and a huge loss of life for the sake of uncertain territorial gains.”

Yemenis deserve better

He also tweeted that the focus must remain on the impact of nearly five year conflict on the country's long-suffering civilian population noting that "the Yemeni people deserve better than a life of perpetual war."
The escalation began just days after the Special Envoy had briefed the Security Council with a relatively upbeat assessment of how Yemen had emerged unscathed during the crisis provoked in the Gulf region by the killing of Iran’s top general, by the United States.
He said “no major acts of military provocation” had occurred, noting the previous week “had been one of the quietest weeks of the war in Yemen, since the war began, with only one airstrike, very limited military movement on the ground and no drone or missile attacks on neighbouring States.”

UNICEF welcomes release of children

Meanwhile, the UN Children’s Fund UNICEF’s representative in Yemen, on Tuesday welcomed the release in Sana’a by Ansar Allah of 64 children allegedly captured during military operations.
“UNICEF hopes that this step also leads to the signing by the Ansar Allah of the Action Plan to end the recruitment and use of children in the conflict in Yemen”, the agency said.

Yemen resilient and ‘unscathed’ in face of latest Gulf crisis

Despite the threat posed by recent tensions in the Gulf, Yemen was able to weather the crisis thanks in part to restraint exercised by its political leaders, the UN Special Envoy for the country said on Thursday.

A year on from Yemen talks breakthrough, top UN Envoy hails ‘shift’ towards peace, despite setbacks

When warring parties in Yemen met in a renovated castle outside the Swedish capital last December for UN-brokered talks, they showed that perhaps there could be a way out of brutal conflict and the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, the UN Special Envoy for the country said this week.
