GT BANK PLC'S CEO,MR JIMI AGBAJE SHAKES THE HANDS OF A DIGNITARY AT HIS BANK'S SPONSORED FOOTBALL FIESTA
The GTBank Masters
Cup which is in its fourth season, is a football tournament for First
Generation Heritage Colleges and Private Secondary Schools with pedigree in
Lagos State, is currently in the semi-final round and 4 schools each in the
male and female category will battle it at Onikan Stadium on the Friday 12th
and Saturday 13th June 2015.
It will be an
interesting encounter in the Male Category as St. Gregory’s College Obalende
will play Western College Yaba. St. Gregory’s College will be riding on their
memorable win against old rivals Kings College Lagos whom they defeated 4-1 at
the round of 16 while Western College will hope to play at the finals for the
first time in the history of the competition when they file out against the
Gregorians.
Debutant Jibril
Martins Grammar School Iponri will be playing for glory when they face St.
Finbarr’s College Akoka on Saturday June 13. Jibril Martins will be playing
against a very compact St. Finbarr’s team that is very defensive and sharp on
the attack.
For the young
ladies, Queens College Yaba will play Ansar Ud Deen College Isolo in a bid to
successfully defend their title. The defending champions dominated their group
which had the likes of Holy Child College Ikoyi, Methodist Girls High School
Yaba in the preliminaries while debutant Federal Government College Ijanikin
have a big task ahead of them when they play a very attack minded Ansar Ud Deen
Girls High School Itire side.
Winners will be rewarded with the sum of N750,000.00,
N500,000.00 and N350,000.00 for 1st, 2nd
and 3rd place winners respectively in both
the male and female categories.
The semi-final
promises to be thrilling as schools play to book their place in the finals.
Onikan Stadium will be lit up with the display of extra ordinary skills from
these young talents.
Will the debutants
prove to be worthy opponents to the regulars? Or will the old timers experience
give them the much needed edge that will inch them closer to glory? One thing
is sure, answers to these questions will be determined this weekend at the
Onikan Stadium.
Come, witness and
support young talents as they bring to life unique and fresh dexterity enriched
with history of grassroots football in Nigeria.
