LAST FLIGHT:PASSENGER RELIVES HORRORS OF NIGERIAN AIRWAYS
BY ABDULMUMINI ADEKU[LAGOS,NIGERIA]
A passenger who has a habit
of dashing to The United KIngdom to visit her immediate family members
but who is married to a Nigerian [names with held ]has told The News office
Desk of the E.N.MPaedia Express Multimedia Group of Lagos,Nigeria of the inner
joy in her spirit of hearing of the great news of the re-opening of NIgeria's
aviation 's national carrier in London,United kingdom.
The source while chatting with this reporter from her home
in Lagos,Nigeria lamented the several debts owed to clients around the world by
the previous brand:The Nigerian Airways..
The source wondered why a nation that was hugely blessed of
both human and material resources could not get a simply thing rightly.
The source affirmed that the decisions of The Nigerian
Federal government to engage the management of the Ethiopian airlines as a
possible management consultant on the project on the project which recently
took off shows that the Muhammadu Buhari regime were moving towards the right
direction.
The source speaks:"i was on the last flight of The
Nigerian Airways that was to leave London to Lagos, after repeated delays we
still could not finally travel on the flight,we had started to taxi and we were
on the last stage of going airborne on the tarmac when our flight was halted
due to what we later leant was mechanical fault"
"An aircraft from Paris,France was then mandated to
bring us to Lagos and i do not know what may have happened if we had used that
aircraft to fly to Lagos from London "
"i also recall a flight from Lagos to London via
Bellview Airlines ,we had traveled about an hour airborne when we had
to return due to the fuelling and so each time i use a Nigerian brand to fly i
always have my hearts to my mouth"
"That is why my family in the U.K. used to insist i
travel on British Airways on any other safer foreign aviation brand as the case
may be"
In a related issue,Chief [Mrs]Mary Agbeyegbe ,wife of the
slain aviation critic ,Captain Jerry Agbeyegbe had on several occasions
lamented to this reporter on the poor state of the nation's aviation sector
especially in the years after he spouse's demise.
According to her ,it was difficult a pain to swallow that
the same industry whose growth her
husband had devoted all of his entire adult life was now a shadow of
itself.
She revealed to this reporter severally that at least 2/3 of
the real estate and properties to be found in the old Government Reservation
Areas in Ikeja actually belonged to the Nigerian Airways aside from the old 19
states of the Federation.
Once upon a time,Captain
Jerry Agbeyegbe ,one of Nigeria's greats in aviation was murdered in
Ketu -Alapere area of Lagos,Nigeria .
Till this day ,it's doubt ful whether the issue ever really
got the kind of justice it deserved ,Agbeyegbe of blessed memory was the
Founder of the National Aviation Safety Initiative during his lifetime.
