WHAT THE U.K GETS IN RESEARCH FUNDING FROM THE EUROPEAN
UNION
The UK is one of the largest
recipients of research funding in the EU. Over the period 2007 – 2013 the UK
received €8.8 billion out of a total of €107 billion expenditure on research,
development and innovation in EU Member States, associated and third countries.
This represents the fourth largest share in the EU.
In terms of funding awarded on a
competitive basis in the period 2007 – 2013 (Framework Programme 7), the UK was
the second largest recipient after Germany, securing €6.9 billion out of a
total of €55.4 billion.
