There is a new dawn in Nigeria’s aviation Industry, with a  new player emerging to contribute its quota to the transformation agenda of the government of Federal Republic of Nigeria as oil and gas mogul, Mr. Tunde Babalola has introduced the newest airline into the  Nigerian aviation market and  it is simply called  Discovery Air.

Mr Tunde Babalola as he is fondly called by friends and admirers alike is an  Ondo born Multi billionaire explained in an exclusive chat with Adeniyi Ifetayo what Discovery Air is bringing on board and why he venture into Airline Business.

QUESTION... Congratulation once again as you received The  Discovery Air AOC Certificate from Nigerian Civil Aviation Authourity , What should Nigerians  expect from Discovery Air?

Let them expect to have in place a  very Safe airline which will be  price friendly ,it is going to be an Airline that people can fly on as  the aim is to make sure that all Nigerians can actually travel by air no matter the class of the society they belong to. Our own idea is that you must be able to fly from point A to point B. Our own passengers are going to be treated in the way they should be like Kings and Queens ,because Nigerians deserved the very best when it comes to service. the way we see our airlines is that if you pay then its our obligation to deliver quality service and that is what we are bringing on board. We are going to try to cover where others don’t go to, we want to cover the whole of Nigeria so that people can go to wherever they want to. Lets say you want to go to Akure which is about three and half hours by road, you will buy fuel like N8,000 depending  on the type of car that you are using, our own idea is to get you to Akure with that N8,000 within 45minutes and you can as well move from Akure to Port Harcourt or from Uyo to Abuja with a minimal cost.

That’s what we are bringing to the  Nigerian domestic aviation market  and of course quality service delivery  that  cannot be  imagined   until it is  experienced .

Well, I can tell you for free that in addition to safety measure put in place by NCAA, before any of our airline takes off, all the accountable officers must sign off, these are the people that have  years of experience in the industry that your name is at stake, like the

Our Managing Director Captain Abdulsalami Mohammed has 36years of experience in the  aviation industry and he is a professional who knows his onions deeply .

We will make sure that in accordance with our brand focus when it comes to air travel,we will make our aircrafts available to customers even at night as some of our people may want to do business in Abuja at short notice,this is a marked departure from what was obtained in the past.

QUESTION... How many destinations are we looking at for your take off?

We are doing Lagos to Abuja, Lagos Port Harcourt then we will  move to Uyo, Akure and other parts of Nigeria before we will do some other things in terms of expansion.

QUESTION... How do you come about the name DISCOVERY AIR?

There was a day I was travelling from Lagos to London, I love flying so I was going through a magazine then i saw DISCOVER LONDON so I said why should I discover London? that means people too can actually discover Nigeria and its always good to discover a very  new thing.

A source who  spoke to Paedia Express Multimedia in Lagos,Nigeria that he had an eventful flight from Lagos to Abuja during the maiden flight event that took place at the Domestic wing of the Muritala Mohammed International Airport,Lagos,Nigeria recently.
