IMPEACHMENT:AL MAKURA'S ASS ON FIRE IN TINUBU'S ABSENCE

IMPEACHMENT:AL MAKURA'S ASS ON FIRE IN TINUBU'S ABSENCE
BY ABDULMUMINI ADEKU

The fate of Governor Umaru Al Makura of Nassarrawa State remains uncertain as at press time
For Governor Umaru Al Makura of Nassarawa State in Nigeria , this are not happy times as the drums of war and possible impeachment by the State House of Assembly in Lafia ,Central Nigeria continues to get louder by the day.
In an exclusive investigations by Paedia Express Multimedia in Lagos,Nigeria,it was discovered that the All Progressive Congress National Leader,Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had been pulling the strings for him to remain in office.
An impeccable source told this reporter how the Chief Justice of Nassarrawa State,Justice Suleiman Dikko was been silenced by Tinubu's largesse
The source speaks "He was asked to name his price and given some thing in the region of what the Chief Justice of Nigeria earns, he also got a certificate of occupancy"
"You know this was how the crisis ended ,PDP controls the state legislature ,APC controls the Judge who will have supervised the entire drama been caused by the Nassarawa state legislature"
"This is what made the lawmakers to change there minds at the last minute ,if only Nyako had done the same thing"
The source also disclosed that there were APC implants who are handsomely paid to search for information from the ruling PDP
MEMBERS of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly are dogged in their pursuit of ensuring that Governor Tanko Almakura is impeached on account of the 16-count allegations against him. Many observers including All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters who thought that the impeachment saga was over with the panel’s dismissal of all the charges and acquitted Almakura.
Not yet Uhuru
However, it is not yet Uhuru for the governor, his followers and APC supporters who have been sending series of congratulatory messages on radio and newspapers to Almakura on what they describe as ‘victory of the rule of law’.
The state lawmakers upon resumption of plenary on Monday declared clearly that the matter is still on the front burner. The latest move started when the Leader of the House, Hon. Godiya Akwashiki, representing Nasarawa Eggon North Constituency, raised a motion on public hearing compelling the speaker to kick-start the fresh motion on the impeachment.
Akwashiki said that the action and motive of the state Chief Judge, Justice Suleiman Dikko in constituting a panel as directed by the assembly to investigate the allegations against the governor contradicted Section 188 sub section 5 of the 1999 Constitution.
Akwashiki alleged that justice Suleiman knowingly recruited some members of the panel who are card- carrying members of a political party, and some office holders who are relations of the accused. This, he stated, would make such members to be partisan in dispensing justice and fair hearing would not be accorded to the other party.
Lacuna and petition to NJC
Sighting a lacuna in the establishment of the panel, in view of Section 188, the leader referred the House to part 1 of that schedule Section 7, column 20 of the 1999 of the constitution on the body responsible for the disciplinary of members of the judiciary.
“As law makers, we don’t want to match violence to violence, crisis to crisis. I therefore crave the indulgence of the House to write to the National Judicial Council, NJC, to investigate the activities of the chief judge of Nasarawa state in the setting up of the panel of investigation”, Akwashiki moved.
The motion was seconded by Deputy Leader of the House, Hon. Yahaya Usman, who represents Umasha/Ogha constituency.
Commenting on the motion, Hon. Orogu Francis (Keana constituenc y) said the issue before the House was a clear matter of the abuse of office by the chief judge of the state.
“The chief judge has joined forces and conspired with the political forces that are prepared to prevent the legislative body in Nasarawa state from doing its work. They are out to use every means both dubious and otherwise to frustrate us from achieving what ordinarily is called justice in the rule of law, and therefore the motion and secondment should stand,” he said.
Consequently, the Speaker, Ahmed Musa, directed the clerk of the House to forward a petition to the NJC within 24 hours to act accordingly.

Meanwhile, the Chairman Committee on Information and Security, Hon. Baba Ibaku, in a chat with reporters debunked allegations that Almakura bribed some top PDP leadership in and outside the state to the tune of over N700million to frustrate the lawmakers’ impeachment move.
Ibaku said the House does not care whether such thing exists or not because “all we are concerned about is how we will do justice to the issue at hand and we will never be distracted by anybody until we reach the end.”
If the NJC buys the view of the legislators, the vacating state chief judge may be suspended over violation of the provision of the constitution that mandates him to set up panel whose members do not belong to any political party. If that happens, a new panel may be constituted and Almakura may be impeached within 14 days.
Source told Vanguard that the assembly is relying so much on the NJC to suspend the Justice Dikko over an allegation that the CJ was given N100million by the Nasarawa state government as bribe and the panel members were paid N400million each against the N150, 000 originally meant to be paid to each member per sitting.
The APC has condemned the renewed plan by the Nasarawa House of Assembly to impeach Gov. Tanko Al-Makura, who has been cleared of the charges against him by a duly constituted impeachment panel.
In a statement issued in Ilorin recently  by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, the party said it would amount to an illegality for the lawmakers to draft a pliant Vacation Judge, as it has been reported, to set up another panel to probe the same 16 allegations over which the Governor has been absolved of any wrongdoing.
The party said the governor cannot be impeached on the basis of the same allegations, noting that if indeed the lawmakers want to follow the Constitution, they will have to find a new set of impeachable offences against the governor, notify him appropriately and then forward their request to the Chief Judge, not to a Vacation Judge.
“That this latest move by the legislators, who are now marooned in Abuja instead of their base in Lafia, is being instigated by the PDP is not in doubt, irrespective of the unconvincing and tepid denial from the party. That this illegality is being contemplated under the watch of President Goodluck Jonathan is clear for all to see. In fact, it is in line with the culture of lawlessness and impunity for which the Jonathan Administration has now become infamous,” the party said.

SUPER SOLDIER IS COMING

EDITORIAL OPINION
SUPER SOLDIER IS COMINGRobots at the Robofest-2013 youth festival in Moscow
we hope that the robots are not sabotaged by Nigerian soldiers again like in the past
On two occasions now ,Nigerians  have been told in very clear terms by its Armed Forces that are not prepared for the battle to fight the insurgency caused by the dreaded Islamist group,Boko Haram.
On those two occasions ,they rebelled against the establishment as they claimed that they were not willing to go into battle with Boko Haram as they were ill equipped to face the terror group.
The military High Command threatened fire and brimstone over the issue and promised a court martial but on both occasions nothing came out of it as it was clear that the leadership was as guilty as its followers.
With billions of dollars of tax payers funds going into the nations defense sector ,this nothing but a national tragedy of immeasurable proportion.
On the 25 th of August ,2014 ,everything came to a head when it was gathered that 480 Nigerian Soldiers had defected to the Cameroun though this was immediately refuted by the military leadership  in Nigeria.
Now the implications of this singular incident is grave for Nigeria's  already fragile security  and territorial integrity if we do not act very fast to nip this worrying trend of a non performing  Armed Forces into the bud.
It is high time that the Nigerian Armed Forces working in consonance with the Federal Government get hold of a Super Soldier.
By a Super Soldier we are talking of a Robot ,which will take the place of mortal men since they have declared themselves so far as completely useless.
With a Robot in place, all we need to do is back it with a sincere armory and no form of sabotage while efforts should be made to probe and punish those who converted our defense funds into private use and if this is done Boko Haram will be checked.
A super Soldier is expected to be fire proof, bomb proof and bullet proof thus making it 21st century  compliant in terms of military warfare.
It will be able to take on the militia  group, Boko Haram without breaking any form of sweat
But it is key that this machine should never be allowed to fall into the wrong hands like the previous weapons of the Nigerian army.
With a Super Soldier in place,Nigeria would have been ushered into the list of a privileged few whose military infrastructures is of a cutting edge level as it will reduce the mortality rate in the Armed Forces due to the terror crisis in the North Eastern part of Nigeria.
Military robots include the SWORDS robot which is currently used in ground-based combat. It can use a variety of weapons and there is some discussion of giving it some degree of autonomy in battleground situations.
Unmanned combat air vehicles (UCAVs), which are an upgraded form of UAVs, can do a wide variety of missions, including combat. UCAVs are being designed such as the BAE Systems Mantis which would have the ability to fly themselves, to pick their own course and target, and to make most decisions on their own The BAE Taranis is a UCAV built by Great Britain which can fly across continents without a pilot and has new means to avoid detection. Flight trials are expected to begin in 2011
The AAAI has studied this topic in depth and its president has commissioned a study to look at this issue.
Some have suggested a need to build "Friendly AI", meaning that the advances which are already occurring with AI should also include an effort to make AI intrinsically friendly and humane.] Several such measures reportedly already exist, with robot-heavy countries such as Japan and South Korea having begun to pass regulations requiring robots to be equipped with safety systems, and possibly sets of 'laws' akin to Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics. An official report was issued in 2009 by the Japanese government's Robot Industry Policy Committee. Chinese officials and researchers have issued a report suggesting a set of ethical rules, and a set of new legal guidelines referred to as "Robot Legal Studies." Some concern has been expressed over a possible occurrence of robots telling apparent falsehoods.

LASSA FEVER,OTHERS AS DEADLY AS EBOLA FEVER

Ebola virus

LASSA FEVER,OTHERS AS DEADLY AS EBOLA FEVER
BY ABDULMUMINI ADEKU,ALEXANDRA ZAVIS.
…………………..MARBURG,LASSA FEVER,YELLOW FEVER,DENGUE FEVER ARE LETHAL TOO
………………………W.H.O SAYS THAT 20,000 PEOPLE ARE EXPECTED TO DIE DUE TO THE CURRENT EBOLA SAGA
…………………….FRESH ATTACKS IN CENTRAL AFRICA
The Current outbreak of Ebola Virus around West Africa and even in Central and Equatorial Africa has been described as a tiny finger in huge dam if efforts are not made by medical authorities and researchers alike to devote more time on study , work and funding of how to combat hemorrhagic fevers.
In an exclusive interview with Paedia Express Multimedia in Lagos, Nigeria, The Medical Director of Our Friend Hospital ,Dr Tosin Isa Mohammed said that hemorrhagic fevers could only be contained and not stopped as there will be on and off period of attacks since they are from organic origins.
He explained that there were more of dangerous diseases like Ebola than was now been discussed in the public sphere as he  listed such ailments like Yellow Fever, Dengue Fever,
Lassa Fever, Rift Valley Fever, South American Hemorrhagic, African Hemorrhagic fevers.
He warned seriously that those thinking that Hemorrhagic Fevers will be wiped out over night should be ready for a heart break as they will go and come back depending on the level of our response.
According to the medical expert some of the dangerous diseases termed medically as Hemorrhagic Fever were either vector based through secondary hosts like Rats or through Mosquitoes when they use there proboscis to suck the blood of an infected victim
His words"A Disease only becomes very popular when it becomes very popular then it is characterized as an epidemic ,they all have different manifestations but are similar in that they have situations like bleeding, high fever ,multiple organ failure and high fatality rate"
He debunked claims that African scientists were been treated with double standards by the World Health Organizations over there research findings on diseases as eh asked them to step up there game in the field of consistency and effective provision of concise data at all times like the practice in Europe and America.
Dr Mohammed continues "in 1969,Lassa Fever was contacted by an American at a village in Plateau state called Lassa in Nigeria  and they started to work on it  with drugs and vaccines put in place for this ,Marburg disease was found in 1967 in East Africa ,domestic animals like Rats are usually the vector for this crisis"
"When diseases reach the stage of popularity on account of been epidemic  then there will be more funding  and attention paid to it"
He added that because of the present situation the World Health Organization has just disclosed that not less than  20,000 people were expected to die this year.
A suspected Ebola outbreak in Central Africa has been traced to a pregnant woman who butchered a slain bush animal that had been given to her husband, the World Health Organization said Wednesday.
The Health Ministry in the Democratic Republic of Congo said Sunday that two samples taken from a remote village in the northwestern province of Equateur had tested positive for the deadly virus, but added that the infections were from a different strain than the one that has killed more than 1,400 people in four West African countries.
France, meanwhile, recommended that its nationals leave Liberia and Sierra Leone because of the outbreak there, and the national carrier Air France temporarily suspended flights to Sierra Leone's capital, Freetown.
United Nations officials have urged airlines and other transport companies not to suspend service to Ebola-affected countries, saying it is hampering efforts to bring in much-needed supplies and humanitarian workers.
Air France will continue to fly to Guinea and Nigeria, saying airport screening procedures in those countries will ensure that people displaying symptoms of Ebola aren't allowed to board its flights.
In Nigeria, the government postponed the start of the school year until Oct. 13 to help prevent the spread of Ebola, local news reports said.
A total of 24 suspected Ebola cases were identified in Congo between July 28 and Aug. 18, including 13 people who died, the WHO said. Samples have been sent to laboratories in the Congolese capital, Kinshasa, and the nearby nation of Gabon to confirm the presence of Ebola and verify the strain, the United Nations health agency said in a statement.
If confirmed, this would be the seventh Ebola outbreak in Congo since 1976, when the disease was first reported.
There is no cure or vaccine for Ebola, which is spread by contact with infected bodily fluids. The illness can jump from animals to humans through the handling or eating of infected carcasses.
The woman believed to have been the first person infected in the latest outbreak came from Ikanamongo village and died Aug. 11 of a then-unidentified hemorrhagic fever, the statement said. A doctor and two nurses who were exposed to the woman during surgery also developed symptoms and died, along with a hygienist and another person identified as a "ward boy."
Other deaths were recorded among relatives of the woman, people who were in contact with clinic staff and those who handled the bodies of the victims during funeral ceremonies, the  WHO said.
The Health Ministry has sent teams to the affected area to evaluate the situation. Individuals who came in contact with the victims are being traced, the WHO said.
So far, 80 people are being followed. None of them traveled to West Africa or were in contact with people from that region, the WHO said.
The Ebola outbreak in West Africa has taken a heavy toll on health workers.  More than 240 have been infected and at least 120 have died in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Nigeria, according to WHO figures.
Authorities in Sierra Leone said Wednesday that a leading doctor had succumbed to Ebola. Dr. Sahr Rogers contracted the virus while working at a hospital in the eastern city of Kenema, the Associated Press reported. He was the third doctor in the country to die of Ebola.
A Senegalese epidemiologist, who was infected while deployed for the WHO in the eastern Sierra Leonean town of Kailahun, was flown to Germany overnight and was receiving care Wednesday at a Hamburg hospital. The WHO has temporarily withdrawn its remaining staff members from the town while it investigates how the infection happened.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it had flown home via private charter an employee who had "low-risk exposure" to a health worker infected with Ebola in Sierra Leone.
The CDC employee, who was due to return to the United States, had worked in the same room as the infected person. The employee was not displaying any symptoms, the CDC said in a statement. But it is policy that staff members traveling long distances after contact with Ebola patients should use private travel methods during the 21-day incubation period.
The Public Health Agency of Canada announced that it was evacuating a three-member mobile laboratory team from Kailahun after people in their hotel complex were diagnosed with Ebola.
None of the Canadian team members had direct contact with those infected and they were not displaying signs of illness, the agency said in a statement. But they will remain in voluntary isolation and will be monitored during the incubation period, the statement said.
Lassa fever or Lassa hemorrhagic fever (LHF) is an acute viral hemorrhagic fever caused by the Lassa virus and first described in 1969 in the town of Lassa, in Borno State, Nigeria.[1] Lassa fever is a member of the arenaviridae virus family. Similar to Ebola,[2] clinical cases of the disease had been known for over a decade but had not been connected with a viral pathogen. The infection is endemic in West African countries, resulting in 300,000–500,000 cases annually, causing approximately 5,000 deaths.] Outbreaks of the disease have been observed in Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and the Central African Republic, but it is believed that human infections also exist in Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mali, and Senegal. The primary animal host of the Lassa virus is the Natal Multimammate Mouse (Mastomys natalensis), an animal indigenous to most of Sub-Saharan Africa.[4] The virus is probably transmitted by contact with the feces or urine of animals accessing grain stores in residences. Given its high rate of incidence, Lassa fever has become a major problem in the African region.
