The Alternative Power Exhibition which is usually hosted by the Lagos State government in partnership with Folub Elektric Servz is now in its sixth edition.
In his welcome address at the opening day of the event held in the Blue Roof event Centre in the Lagos Television Compound in Lagos, Nigeria ,The Permanent Secretary in charge of the Lagos State Television ,Mr Adekunle Ajanaku told the gathering that  it was  heart warming to note that the show piece has survived despite the uncertain nature of the business place.
He told all at the event that he  was very happy to tell all that Lagos state was now a trail blazer as far as Alternative Power was concerned in Nigeria because of the several initiatives of the state government in this area.
He assured that this particular edition was targeted at the organized private sector due to the array of product produced by manufacturers which are available to artisans and professionals from all walks of life.
In a related issue, Engineer Taofeek Ajibade Tijani ,commissioner for Energy and mineral Resources said that Lagos state actually needs not less than 10,000 megawatts to be sustainable in terms of electricity generation, but quickly added that sadly presently Nigeria as  nation can only afford 4,000 megawatts with Lagos sate accounting for 1,000 megawatts out of which Ogun state will use a further 200 megawatts.
Me Segun  Adaju, Chief of Party, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Project defined alternative energy as a form of energy different from fossil fuels in his analysis of the concept.
He explained to the gathering that the phenomena  can actually help the consumers to conserve money and energy unlike the situation that they are all currently used to.
He lauded the initiator of the Project, Engineer Bode  Adefolu for supporting and starting the initiative at a time when many did not believe in the trend.
Engineer Adefolu later thanked officials of the relevant state agencies who have identified with the project since inception and the stakeholders that have identified with it for the past six years.
