"Kiribati inspires Americans to take action"
In the National Association of Letter Carriers hall of Cincinnati Ohio, roughly 40 people gathered to write letters to detainees held in detention centers across the USA. In recent years, there have been cases of detained I-Kiribati in the USA, and tonight's event was inspired by one of those strong and courageous detainees. Tired, scared, and lonely; the nights in jail can be the worst of times for detained individuals. Letters have the power to change all of that. They connect individuals with others who show care, compassion and comfort for what they are going through. Tonight, 39 volunteers gathered to listen to stories from inside one US detention center and write letters of hope, support, and encouragement to those behind it's walls.
"Tonight's event inspired me"
"I never knew the stories behind the numbers"
"I want my children to write letters now"
"This event showed me the goodness of humanity"

In a time of great American turmoil, thank you kindly Kiribati for inspiring and enlivening our humanity!
