MEDIA N.G.O TO BEGIN STUDY ON GENDER BASED VIOLENCE
Journalist Against AIDS [J.A.A.I.D.S] has disclosed of its plans to begin a study on a project entitled: reshaping  the media portrayal and public understanding of Gender based violence issues in Nigeria with support from the World Association of Christain communication.
In a mail sent to The News Office Desk of Paedia Express Multimedia in Lagos, Nigeria ,it was leant that  will go as much a year before its completion
Upon completion,analysts hear that the The project seeks to address the culture of silence around Gender Based Violence (GBV) issues and foster informed discussions through social and traditional media platforms. As a result of this project, we  expect to see changes in media policy and practices in reporting GBV and improvements in multi-stakeholder collaboration in addressing GBV issues
The Project activities include a Media Monitoring component, Focused Group discussions as well as Training for Media professionals  and  NGOs/Key Stakeholders working on Gender related issue.
As an identified  key stakeholder , we write to invite you to participate in a  3 days ( Non residential training )   for  journalists and  CSOs  working in the  field of GBV. The  training will provide a  platform  for the media,  CSOs and Programme Implementers  to forge partnerships as well as jointly develop specific appropriate action plans to address the  culture of silence and communication barriers  that are hampering efforts to address Gender Based Violence in Lagos State.
