NIGERIA:SHOPRITE OWES UNILEVER MILLIONS OF
NAIRA
BY ABDULMUMINI ADEKU[LAGOS,NIGERIA]
The News office Desk of the E.N.M.Paedia
Express Multimedia Group of Lagos,Nigeria now hears that high street South
African brand,Shoprite through its Nigerian affiliate actually owes Unilever
Nigeria Plc several millions of naira of unpaid debt as a result of
transactions between them over several years running now.
An impeccable source who is a next door neighbor
to this reporter said as much recently as the source insisted that matters came
to a head recently when workers and their family members wanted to go for shopping during the festive
period but had to beat a retreat as the management had to order them to all go
for their respective purchases after a business voucher had exchanged hands in
between the two foremost business giants.
The source noted that the voucher helped to
reconcile part of the debts owed to Unilever Nigeria Plc by Shoprite as it
reflected in entirety the level of purchase made by the workers thus reducing
the retail firms debt profile to Unilever.
The source did not however reveal the exact amount
involved in the business synergy between
both companies which is believed had
being a long standing and healthy relationship.
The source however added that there was no
type of Unilever Nigeria Plc product portfolio that was not on the shelf of
Shoprite and even in the open market for consumers to buy.
