PAEDIA
EXPRESS WRITES THE UNITED NATIONS OVER
LATE JAMAL
KHASSORGGI 'S KILLING
MR ANTONIO GUTIERREZ ,
THE SECRETARY GENERAL,
THE UNITED NATIONS ,
The address of the United Nations Headquarters in
New York is: 405 East 42nd Street, New York, NY,
10017, USA. Tel: (+ 1) (212) 963-9999.
NEW YORK,UNITED STATESOF AMERICA.
Dear Sir,
Your Excellency i write you with a very heavy heart over the
killing of the deceased Saudi Arabian Journalist
,MrJamal Khassorggi now of blessed memories.
We at the E.N.M.Paedia Express Trust ,a Nigerian based
charity do not know what will be the
eventual position o f the United Nations
on the gruesome murder of an esteemed
senior journalist but we dare say that we do hope that the global body will act
swiftly on the matter.
This should send a serious signal to all political
authoritarians globally that actions not properly carried out in line with the
rule of law and global human rights statutes will no longer be accepted by all.
First of all, what were the sins of Mr Khassorggi, speaking truth to power and
this ironically is the tripod upon which every society and even religion stands
upon.
Come to think of it,Khassorggi confronted bad leadership in a nation which
houses one of the greatest spiritual leanings in all of human history :Islam
and this speaks volume of the strength
of character of the deceased .
It's a terrible shame that we were all alive in our
respective homes and none of us could do anything to save him from the hands of
his abductors, even as Saudi official
insist that they did not kill him.
Khassorggi we hear tried severally to convince Osama Bin
Laden to abandon terrorism, he also condemned the bombings of the world trade
centre ,Khassorggi fought for the rights of women and other vulnerable groups
in the Arab world among so many other values that are now too numerous to be
mentioned and yet his own nation not only killed him but cut him into bits and
pieces like sardine.
We think it right
that if the United Nations are not paying lip services to its own rules
on respect to the dignity of every human being to ask that the Saudi Arabian
should go on suspension from its seats at the United Nations till when the
dusts has settled after a month or two over the unfortunate incident.
We plead with the United Nations Secretary General to take
out time of his very busy schedules to pay a visit to Saudi Arabia and console
with the family of the deceased even if it is for a day,he can also use the
period to lobby the Saudi leadership to compensate the family of the departed
in any best way that they can in line with
their tradition.
While we do not know the criteria for choosing who the Crown
Prince of Saudi Arabia should be ,we think that it is a great disservice not
just to Islam as a religion of great repute and piety but to the issue of
leadership ,if the present holder of that position is allowed to continue in
office without a check and balance via the establishment of a Council of Ulamas
or Islamic Scholars who will help him in advisory capacity so that his decision
making will almost be faultless at all times as his position is a highly
sensitive one .
Life is sacred and it should be treated as so at all times.
Thanks,
Yours Affectionately,
[Otcherhiwhegh ]Abdulmumini ireyi Adeku,
