They had been on his tail since 2004,infact there were period he was said to have escaped via a fence, while at other times he had to run away from a petrol station to shake –off men of the under world but on the 3rd of July at exactly,11 in the night, the angel of death finally caught up with Barrister Alexander Olakunle Fadipe.
Investigations by Paedia Express Multimedia at the crime scene at Adeleke Odunuga  street in highbrow Harmony Estate in Ifako-Ijaiye in Lagos shows that  the assailant was not an armed robber but a paid and hired assassin.
While some accounts as at press time insists that the killer was from the Pansheke area of Abeokuta due to his ascent some say that the young man believed to be a 24 year old cultist was from Edo State.
The obviously highly trained marksman is said to have been embedded inside the Estate gathering intelligence on the victim for about four days prior to attacking and finally killing his target with a sickle shaped double dagger.
Checks by this reporter showed that the invader had scaled the fence of the deceased unaided and was wearing a hand glove presumably to prevent his finger print from been detected during forensic analysis of his acts.
Paedia Express Multimedia gathered that on sighting the victim the killer  targeted his heart  where he stabbed him to death..
A source told this reporter that it was easy to observe this if the body of the victim is cross examined during post mortem analysis as the deceased suffered severe cuts on his hands while fighting for his life.
The source also said that the deceased family members comprising of his mother-in-law, wife,sister-in-law and son were all attacked during the  blood orgy by the assassin.
A source speaks:”If you enter the house you will see blood all over the place when the assassin completed his job,he took to his heels but one of our Oodua Peoples Congress { O.P.C }members caught up with him,2 initial gunshots to disarm him did not work out until he uttered native incantations and we then got him through his legs”
“Kunle died around 11:00P.m. on that day but until now the assailant has refused to talk,”
Another source told this reporter that the attacker  was actually waiting for who ever will be coming  to switch on the generating set when the electricity supply went off  but that when he discovered that it was the deceased son he stabbed him in the face and the hand.
He is said to have gone in at this juncture to meet Barrister Kunle Fadipe  and took on him directly.
It was learnt that one of the victim’s children upon realizing that what was at stake was beyond the powers of members of the family  ran out of the compound to cry unto OPC members in the estate that an assassin had gained entrance into their compound.
Meanwhile back in the house the assassin is believed to have asked  Late Mr Kunle Fadipe to hand over his properties like mobile phones and laptop and a sum of around N500,000  but the latter told the attacker he was not so buoyant at the time but will still be ready to part with some reasonable amount.
When this reporter visited the deceased sometimes in March,2014 he looked very disturbed and had a far away look in his eyes but it was difficult at the time to say that this was because his life was on the edge.
Another source speaks:”I had slept off around nine but due to our relationship the family members called out to me when the incident happened  and I quickly jumped off to rush him to the AB 10 Hospital “,it was a bloodbath  as this whole place had blood stains until they cleaned and washed off the whole place thoroughly “
“The man definitely is a killer ,eh asked for N500,000 but they told him that they did not have that much on them but at that they were still  willing to part with a substantial amount of money”
“He had two sets of sickle shaped daggers but I will be able to say if they were poisoned and he went straight to attacking Kunle in the heart region”
“They hit the assassin with a USP stabilizer just to shake him off the victim but he refused to let go as he was hell bent on completing his evil mission”
“When I saw him he was writhing in pain and agony and as I gathered him into a waiting vehicle I was dripping with Kunle Fadipe’s blood ,I had to even throw my cloth as it was completely drenched”
“When we got to the hospital ,the doctors on duty immediately went to work as they swung into action due to the nature of the emergency but about 15 to 20 minutes later they came to tell us tat Barrister Kunle Fadipe was dead”
When this reporter visited the late lawyers residence on the 6th of July,2014 ,grief stricken mourners who had come to pay the family homage  at the death of one of Nigeria’s civil Right leaders were seen speaking in glowing terms of the departed soul.
Religious leaders from both the Christian and Muslim communities within the area were also seen as they paid courtesy call on the family while observing prayer sessions for the soul of the departed at the same time.
A source told this reporter that Barrister Kunle Fadipe once said that one of the things he regretted in his life was an occasion in which he had to bend the rules to favor his best friend who was a medical doctor .
Barrister Alexander Olakunle Fadipe as at the time of his death was a member of The Guardian Newspaper’s Editorial Board,Lagos,Nigeria.
As at press time ,the sister –in-law of the deceased ,Miss Abiola Owolabi, herself a lawyer seems to have added more confusion to the issue as she claimed in a press statement even without a medical proof that the assassin was a psychiatric patient.
