The last may not have been heard of the Oscar Pistorious saga as the amputee and celebrated South African Track and Field Star who was recently set free by a Judge for killing his girlfriend has now led to a serious stigma against the trial judge.
Checks by Paedia Express Multimedia in Lagos showed that despite the years of multi-racial culture and democracy since the Apartheid policy of the white minority regime was set aside the racial card was still very much on the card as critisms of the judge continues even in Nigeria
A source told this reporter that he was sure that if the trial judge had treated a case involving a black man instead of a white perhaps his judgment may have been different.
He accused the judge of been under pressure t o give a not guilty verdict on Oscar Pistorious but instead charged him for manslaughter.
  • His words:”How can Oscar Pitorious claim that he shot his girlfriend because he did not know her voice, somebody that he has interacted with over a period of time”
A cafe has come under fire after making a distasteful joke about Oscar Pistorius' killing of Reeva Steenkamp on its receipts.
Dozens of angry customers complained about the joke, which read: "Oscar Pistorius was super keen to get a new bathroom door, but his girlfriend was dead against it."
It came after the South African sprinter was found not guilty of his girlfriend's murder, but guilty of manslaughter after shooting her dead through a bathroom door.
Scorch-O-Rama, in Scorching Bay, Wellington on the New Zealand coast, landed in hot water as customers took to social media to vent their outrage.
Anita Easton posted on Facebook: "Your ‘joke' about the killing of a woman in an incident of domestic violence just ended our family tradition of starting and ending our rides around the peninsula at Scorching Bay."
Another former customer Shauna Ray Ratapu said: "Making jokes on receipts about domestic violence and murder makes this establishment no better than the ‘whites only' racist and misogynist American diners of the 50s. IT IS NOT OKAY!"
As well as receiving a torrent of social media complaints after a woman took a photo of the joke and shared it on Twitter, the cafe also had to deal with two upset phone calls – including one all the way from Melbourne, Australia.
Cafe owner Keith Morrison said he removed the joke from all receipts as soon as a customer complained – but the damage was already done.
He said the cafe was "truly sorry" and removed the joke "as soon as we had that vital moment of awareness".
"Sometimes our brains are the last thing to engage, when they should be the first," he said.
"We apologise again for any hurt or distress we caused people - it was absolutely never our intention.
"People are saying 'are my staff in an environment that isn't safe?' Come on. It's ridiculous to infer that, but I understand."
Morrison has since donated $1000 - around £550 - to Women's Refuge
