ERA LAUNCHES FRESH CAMPAIGN AGAINST WORLD BANK
ON LAGOS WATER

The Environmental Rights Action[ERA] has launched a renewed but sustained efforts at making every World Bank assisted project on water display more transparency or probity.
In his address to the gathering at the firms office in Lagos, Nigeria, the Director , Corporate Accountability, Mr Bode Oluwafemi said that they will not stop until they are confident that the yearnings of the public is met as  far as the issue of water was concerned in Nigeria.
He noted that as at press time another tranche of loans running into several millions of dollars have been approved for the state, as he accused the  Bretton Woods institution for lying to them on there relationship with Lagos state on water.
In his own opinion, Mr Tunde Akanni, Senior Lecturer, Lagos state University  said that  water will be the next possible topical issue that will lead to war in Nigeria
He lashed out at the government at all tiers in Nigeria for been complacent on the issues of provisions of amenities for  the society.
He took a cursory look at the activities of the American Water Works Associations and charged every media practitioner in the land to source for as much information as  possible on various subjects on water from web portal www.jstor.org .
He paid tributes to the late Aaron Schwarz who committed suicide at the age of 26 years after been taken to court by www.jstor.org over an intellectual rights situation.
In a related issue, Executive Director ,Media Support Center, Mr Wale Fatade told the gathering that the media has a great role to play to make the current campaign spearheaded by ERA on water work out effectively.
He told the gathering that the climatic debate was actually real as the floodgates of heaven has opened  and it was raining very heavily.
He urged the media to form a think tank so that stories could be generated to promote a service based journalism not just for today but form the future.
