GHOST OF SANKARA HANGS OVER BURKINA FASO
BY ABDULMUMINI ADEKU.
Twenty seven year after he was killed in a military palace coup
stage managed by his bosom friend, the ghost of one of Africa’s best statesman
,Thomas Sankara hangs over Burkina Faso as if asking the people to avenge him.
Captain Thomas Sankara ,a revolutionary soldier had seized
power in what was then called Upper Volta but he quickly changed its name to
Burkina Faso, meaning land of a good people.
Sankara favoured the possible and early return to democracy
and at the same time embarked upon a populist agenda as the expense of himself
but this was his mistake and he died for it.
It is sad to believe that the same nation that Sankara led and refused to amass the huge proportion
of the nation’s wealth to himself ironically made his successor ,Former
President Blaise Campaore very rich.
Since the political crisis broke towards the middle of October,2014,the
social media had been abuzz with a lot of tantrums been thrown at the now deposed
Campaore from Ouagadougou ,Bobo Dioulasso and else where around the world.
Mr Sedem Rodney Tsenuokpor,a public affairs analyst from Ghana
was deeply sad about how Campaore plundered his nations resources.
Some Ghanaians on Facebook said that they had it rumoursly
that Ghana even toyed with the idea of having the dictator on asylum.
Mr Sedan Tsenuokpor also alerted Paedia Express Multimedia while
the former Burkinabe leader was said to have been seen in a West African village
called,Po as he continued to look for a new hide out as the kitchen got hotter recently.
As at press time ,an emergency meeting had been summoned by
the leadership of the Economic Commission of West Africa states[E.C.O.W.A.S.]
as they try to find a lasting solution to the power vacuum in the impoverished
west African state currently been manned by a hurriedly assembled military junta.
It is expected that as part of the efforts to get the nation
back on track ,a probe may take place soon on the killing of Thomas Sankara as
part of the reconciliation of several warring forces in the country.
