New board members appointed for Wikimedia Nigeria Foundation

Five new board members have been appointed for Wikimedia Nigeria Foundation. They include Barrister Fatai Erewunmi and Dr. Elekofeinti Olushola (Ph.D). Others are Engr. Olujide Adenekan, Tosin Ogunwa and Runcie Chidebe.
This appointment was announced on Wednesday by the Foundation’s spokesman, Mr. Kayode Yusuf who conveyed the approval of the management to the newly appointed trustees.
The Chair of the board, Mr. Olaniyan Olushola in a statement released to our correspondence at the Foundation’s headquarter in Lagos equally confirmed the appointment.
Fatai Erewunmi is a Barrister and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, and an Attorney and Counsellor-at-Law of the Supreme Court of New York. He is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London and holds a LLM in International Law. 
He began his legal career as a state counsel and in Legal Aid, before moving into corporate practice where he garnered valuable experience in green field commercial transactions, working with Promoters on corporate pre-incorporation and post-incorporation concerns. 
He has consulted on numerous projects involving industry specific market entry due diligence and compliance requirements. He is positioned and experienced to help foreign interests entering or doing business in Nigeria to navigate the maze of federal, state and local statutory obligations.
Dr. Olusola Olalekan Elekofehinti (Ph. D) obtained his PhD in Plant Biochemistry and Drug metabolism in 2015 in a split-site programme between the Bioquimical Toxicologia Unit, CCNE, Universidade Federal de Santa Maria RS, Brazil and the Department of Biochemistry, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Nigeria. He is a Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA where he lectures and supervises graduate and undergraduate students. He leads a drug discovery research group in the Department using Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology tools.
Dr. Elekofehinti is distinguished for academic and career excellence. His research work has identified saponins as anti-diabetic principles from medicinal plants and has linked the mechanism to direct interaction with energy metabolism, enzyme modulation, cell signaling and gene expression.
Engr. Dr. Olujide Adenekan (Ph. D) holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Second Class Upper Division in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Federal University of technology, Akure and a Master of Science degree from University of Lagos in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He also holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Swansea University, United Kingdom. He is a Corporate member of Nigerian Society of Engineers and a Registered and Chartered Engineer with the Council for the Registration of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
He has undergone various training courses which includes: General Teaching Skills, Small Group Teaching, Laboratory Demonstrating, and Health and Safety Ethics in the United Kingdom. He is a member of the Nanoelectronic Devices Computational Group, College of Engineering, Swansea University, United Kingdom.
Ogunwa Tosin is an environmental scientist and academic. He hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry (1st class honors) and Master’s degree in Biochemistry from University of Benin (Uniben). In 2016, he bagged the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Award for a doctoral degree in Environmental science at Nagasaki University, Japan. His research interest is in the area of chemotherapy, structural analysis of Biomolecules, drug design and development. Ogunwa has authored over 15 scholarly works in reputable academic journal and has attended several conferences including the 62nd Annual Meeting of Biophysical Society, San Francisco California.
Runcie C.W. Chidebe, 33, a cancer control advocate, researcher, executive director of Project PINK BLUE and curator of Wikimedia Hub Abuja. He is very passionate about gender equity and the use of Wikimedia to make internet gender balanced. Hence, he has hosted several Wikimedia projects for women and girls including Wiki Loves Women Abuja, #WhenGirlsWrite, and WikiGap in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden.
He is one of the leading voices advocating for Nigeria to make cancer control a national health priority. Through, Project PINK BLUE, he is engaged in oncology education, advocacy and patient-navigation. He established Nigeria’s first patient navigation with support from the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and founded the first cancer support group in Abuja, helping cancer patients in Nigeria to become advocates.
He has received several awards globally for his community work on cancer, non-communicable diseases and healthcare in Africa. In 2017, U.S. Department of State named him a champion for cancer care in Nigeria. He is an Alumnus of the National Cancer Institute Summer Curriculum, USA. Member of Nigeria’s Ministerial Committee on National Cancer Control Plan 2018-2022. He was the Best Graduating Student in Psychology 2012 and Best Graduate in Social Work 2006, University of Nigeria.
Runcie C.W. Chidebe aspires to make more gains in inspiring African youths to write the African stories through Wikimedia projects.
The newly appointed board members will join the five previously appointed board members of the Wikimedia Nigeria Foundation.
