Former Governor of the Old Kwara State,Alhaji Adamu Atta who
recently died in Abuja after a long drawn illness died a vegetable.
Investigations by Paedia Express multimedia in
Lagos,Nigeria showed that the late elder
statesman could hardly recognize the nearest person to him in the last decade
or thereabout.
Alhaji Atta who lived in his country home in Kuroko area
near Okene Town for several years after he left the political stage in Kwara
State later relocated to Abuja over ten
years ago for better medical attention
which he will not be able to get staying in a remote area.
Alhaji Atta is believed to be married to a Ghanaian woman
aside from so man women who gave birth to children for him while in office as Governor
of the old Kwara state.
One of the highlights of the second republic was the
political rivalry between Alhaji Adamu Atta and his friend and later political
foe,Dr Abubakar Shola Saraki equally of blessed memory.
Paedia Express Multimedia can reveal that Former Governor
Atta lost his eye sights in his dying days.
At the thick of the political rivalry between the now departed
88 years old politician and Dr Saraki now late, there was a thick rumour that went
viral in Ebira land alleging how the Okene born 2nd republic political heavyweight had kidnapped a psychiatric
patient and used him for rituals in his desperation for to hold on to power at
the Government House in Ilorin,Kwara state.
Sources as at then told this reporter that the politician
had mixed the meat of the madman with
normal beef and this was served as food to an unsuspecting political crowd at a
rally as the Governorship race for the 1983 diadem reached crescendo in Ilorin.
Alhaji Adamu Atta
later lost out in a keenly contested race won by Senator Cornelius
Adebayo in the years general elections.
Once upon a time,Dr Shola Saraki who was on a retainer ship
contract with the then ,National Electric Power Authority ,NEPA, advised his
close friend Alhaji Adamu Atta who was then company scribe and legal adviser of
the public power company to run for the 1979 governorship race as he could not
trust his brother,Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, now Ohinoyi of Ebira land who was equally
in the race.
In 1983 due to political disagreement, Senator Aliyu Gani
from Borgu Emirate who was later to seat on the board of Societe General Bank
Limited was to have replaced Alhaji Adamu Atta in Saraki’s calculation but when
the elders of the National Party of Nigeria[NPN]refused to listed to one of its
main financial sponsors then of his desires that power should change hands he
decided to switch support to United Party of Nigeria [UPN]where Senator Adebayo
was in the race.
