Nestle Nigeria addresses nutrition problems in Ibadan

Nestlé Nutrition Institute Africa training addresses importance of nutrition during the first 1,000 days

Nestlé Nutrition Institute Africa (NNIA) is recently held  its third Advanced Nutrition Programme (CANUP), a training course on maternal and paediatric nutrition for healthcare professionals in Anglophone Central and West Africa.

The training, which took place between 18 and 21 May in Ibadan, Nigeria, focused on the importance of the first 1,000 days of life, from conception to the child’s second birthday. Getting the right nutrition during these critical first 1,000 days is crucial for healthy growth and development in terms of immunity and cognitive function.

“The right feeding practices in early childhood also support the establishment of healthy eating habits, starting with exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life”, said Dharnesh Gordhon, Managing Director and Chief Executive, Nestlé Nigeria PLC.
