2015:BUHARI,JONATHAN TEAR MEDIA APART
THE NIGERIAN PRESS INSTEAD OF BEEN INDEPENDENT IN THE REPORTAGE OF NEWS HAVE BEEN LARGELY PARTISAN THUS HELPING TO CREATE MORE PROBLEMS THAN PROF ERRING SOLUTIONS
BY ABDULMUMINI ADEKU.
The Battle for who becomes Nigeria’s next President is
currently tearing the Nigerian press apart.
Investigations by Paedia Express Multimedia in Lagos,Nigeria
shows that a lot of the senior editors in the various media platforms were actually
divided over who to support for the 2015 General Elections.
Mr Femi Adeshina, President of the highly influential beat
association, The Guild of Editors was overhead clearly in a recent telephone
conversation saying that he was rooting for a change in the polity and that
even the incumbent President knows that.
Paedia Express Multimedia gathered in the conversation that
there was going to be a media parley with President Goodluck Jonathan at
Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja,Lagos and a source wanted to know if he was one of the
organizers of the event but the latter denied any knowledge of the event.
Mr Adeshina had explained that because of his professional
position on the matter as it concerns the election there was no way he would have
been contacted to meet with Mr President.
In his submissions ,The Editor,Southern Operations,Bleuprint
Newspapers,Mr Jerry Uwah lamented the total decay in the land while discussing
exclusively with Paedia Express Multimedia.
He said that the people were a reflection of the kind of
leaders that they have at the top and as such President Goodluck Jonathan was a
clear reflection of the state of decay in the Nigerian society.
He took a swipe at monarchs who instead of questioning the
six years of maladministration of the Jonathan regime had being queuing up
behind him because of monetary gifts .
He paid tributes to the disciplined standard exhibited by
General Muhammadu Buhari in public service saying that this was what Nigeria as
a nation required right now to save her from total anarchy.
He also praised General Mahammadu Magoro now a serving
Senator for believing in General Buhari despite been outnumbered by coupists in
1985.
This reporter was almost thrown out of the newsroom at the
New Telegraph Newspapers by a Niger Deltan editor who got
angry that because the Peoples Democratic Party [P.D.P.] and the All Progressives
Congress[A.P.C.]were been described as same and therefore should not be voted
for by Nigerians.
The fuming editor pointed out that nobody should pass any
anti-Jonathan comment in there newsroom otherwise the person will be thrown
out.
In a related issue, a reporter who was formally on the books
of The Vanguard Newspapers lashed out at the editorials of his former employers
saying that all the senior editors were all on the payroll of Ashiwaju Bola
Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress.
He lamented that there was no negative reports published about the
politician by any of there reporters that will ever get published as it will
even make the editor that reported the matter to Tinubu richer for aiding and
abetting censorship.
