Widow Calls on Taraba CAN Not to Adopt DDI as Consensus
Governorship Candidate of Christians.
THE CANDIDATURE OF CHIEF DICKSON DARIUS ISHAKU IS BEEN CONTESTED ON ALL FRONTS IN TARABA STATE,OPPOSITION FORCES MAY DEFEAT THE P.D.P IN 2015 ELECTIONS IN THE STATE AS A LOT OF ITS HEAVYWEIGHTS HAVE EITHER MOVED TO THE RIVAL SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY[S.D.P] OR THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS[A.P.C]
A 40 year old widow with four
children Mrs. Amina Ebute has urged the leadership of the Christian body, Christian
Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Taraba State to stop declaring Arc. Darius
Dickson Ishaku, as consensus candidate of Christians in the state.
Mrs. Ebute, a woman activist who is
in business at the Mayo-Gwoi market, Jalingo, Taraba State made the call on the
Chairman of CAN in the state in a chat with this medium where she observed that
such action is likely to cause disaffection and disunity amongst the Christian
community in the state.
The widow averred that individual
Christians should be allowed to have a free mind of who to vote as the governor
of the state and not embarking on action to coerce all the members of body of
Christ to vote a particular candidate without considering the psychological
damage such could cause the other candidate who is also a Christian.
Amina who is an outspoken widow said
the business community in Mayo Gwoi market Jalingo have however, resolved to
deposit their mandate with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship
candidate, Chief David Sabo Kente.
“Our reason for deciding for Chief
Kente is because this man has put smile on the faces of so many people in this
state and beyond, particularly with his DSK Foundation.
“Over the years, we have only being
hearing the name of one Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku who have traversed the
federal offices, but till date no one has felt his impact within the society
and now that the man that has been suffering and sacrificing for the less
members of the society and who is the most qualified candidate for the
governorship of this state, come next general election is going to have his
birth-right sold out to the unknown.
“I am particularly appealing to the
men of God who have the very sole responsibility of ensuring justice and
fairness in the conduct of all affairs of this state and this nation, to stop
whatever plan being proposed to present the PDP governorship candidate, Arc.
DDI as a consensus candidate of Christians in Taraba State. This action is
likely to bring about sharp division amongst the Christian community as most of
us have vowed before our God that we shall continue to give our full support to
the actualization of the governorship ambition of Chief David Sabo Kente.
“This is a man we are truly
convinced would take this state to the next level of development, he has all it
takes to add value to our youths, our aged men and women and particularly the
unemployed and vulnerable members of the public, there is no alternative to him
except God decides otherwise we stand by him.
“We, the less privileged members of
the public are appealing to all those above the age of 18 years to get their
INEC PVC because that is the weapon we are going to use to decide on who our
next governor and other leaders and representatives should be. We have our
conscience which should not be abused by anyone just for selfish reasons, let
us all come out on April 11th 2015 and vote Chief Kente into the
governance of this state for the overall benefit of the people.”
