BABANGIDA :THE KILLER OF DELE GIWA IS HAVING A BALL AT HIS HILLTOP MANSION IN MINNA
DELE GIWA HONOURED FINALLY IN LAGOS
BY ABDULMUMINI ADEKU.
30 years after an Ibrahim Babangida inspire parcel bomb blew
him into pieces in his Lagos Home, Founding Editor-in-Chief of The Newswatch
magazine has finally been honored by the very odious Nigerian Society.
Amidst pomp and pageantry ,the younger brother of the deceased
Mr Tunde Giwa collected the beautiful looking plaque at the EKO F.M. events
Hall at Agidingbi in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria to the delight of the gathering at the second Reunion and reception held by
the Alumni of the now rested Concord Press of Nigeria Limited ,Lagos.
In her speech through a representative, Lagos Deputy
Governor,Mrs Idiat Adebule while felicitating with the body said that the body should consider setting up
a welfare fund to help take care of alumni s who were not so fortunate in life.
She prayed that those who were been given awards apart from
the deceased journalist should continue to use it to be of value to the larger
society.
In his own contributions,a member of the organizing team,Mr
Aliyu Mohammed Olurotimi on behalf of the alumni thanked the state government
for the honour done to the group by giving some of their members exalted positions
within the polity .
He reeled out the lists of Concord Press of Nigeria Limited
staff that were so honored with the crowd clapping in sincere appreciation as
each of the recipients were called out before
the gathering as they collected their awards as the night wore on with food and
drinks used to wash down a rich vein of buffet for all the invited guest.
It was observed that unlike last year ‘s event the duo Mrs
Hamidat Doyinsola Abiola ,Former Managing Director of Concord Press and one of the
widows of Aare M.K.O.Abiola the presumed winner of the controversial June
12,1993 Presidential Elections and her step son,Kola Abiola were absent at this
years event for reasons still unclear to Paedia Express Multimedia’s News Desk
in Lagos,Nigeria as at press time.
