GHETTO NOW SPENDS OVER 200 DAYS IN DARKNESS
BY ABDULMUMINI ADEKU.
The shanty neighborhood of the busy College Road in Ifako Ijaiye area of Lagos,Nigeria called Idiagbon is now spending over at least over 200 days of complete darkness due to the epileptic electricity supply from the utility provider,Ikeja Electricity  Distribution Company .
Checks by The News Office Desk of Paedia Express Multimedia in Lagos,Nigeria suggests that the residents of the area had since grown tired of the endless excuse given by the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company over  the unfortunate  situation.
A source who spoke to this reporter revealed  that there were at least over 200 houses  within the shanty with such streets like Adeshina, Alhaji Quadri,Adeeko all in utter darkness since February,2016.
A resident, Mr Lanre Arogundade  told this reporter that this year alone residents had mobilized themselves on 2 different occasions to protest  this grave anomaly but instead of the situation getting better things had gotten worse.
A source also informed this reporter as at press time that the perennial darkness had not  stopped the power sector company from collecting their tariffs.
The source pointed out that an average of N6,000 to N7,000 was collected on the average every month from each of the over 200 houses in the shanty .
In a related issue,Yet another source who lives in the area told this reporter that she will not disagree with whoever says  that  they have not had power for over 200 days as she had stopped using her fridge now altogether.
