BY ABDULMUMINI ADEKU.
Former Commissioner of Information under the Ashiwaju Bola
Ahmed Tinubu’s regime, Mr Dele Alake has been accused of been responsible for
the scuttling a government white paper on cultural integration during his time
in office.
In an exclusive investigation by Paedia Express Multimedia
in Lagos, Nigeria , it was discovered that as part of efforts made by the state
to bring about integration at all levels there was a white paper sent from the desk
of the Permanent Secretary of Lagos Television, Mr Lekan Ogunbanwo regarding
the airing of some foreign languages with greater audience in Nigeria
The source explained that Mr Ogunbanwo had encouraged him to
start up a Hausa language oriented program on radio so as to boost the religious and cultural divide.
The source pointed out that between 1997 up till 1999 he produced and presented the program as he was given a considerable air time since there was a lot of Hausa audience in
Lagos and within the South West axis.
He revealed that at the time the then Commissioner for
Information in Lagos state, Mr Dele Alake
said that they should stop the project as that cannot even happen in the
Northern part of Nigeria.
He lamented that if the program had continued till date it
would have become an institution of some sort as this may even have been used
to address the thorny Boko Haram issue.
