LAGOS H.O.M.S PROJECT A SHAM
BY ABDULMUMINI ADEKU.
The Lagos State Home Ownership Mortgage Scheme project has
been described as a sham.
In an exclusive investigations on the matter by Paedia
express Multimedia in Lagos ,Nigeria it was discovered through some clients that
have patronized the scheme that the project was another of several white
elephant project of the government .
A source told Paedia Express
Multimedia that he brought one of the prime properties under the scheme in
Shahsha and after buying it he had to
spend another N500,000 to carry out repair works on the building.
He insisted that by the time he brought his apartment he discovered
that the window wooden vane had been destroyed by termites.
He listed some of the substandard materials in the buildings
as toilet facilities, water systems among others.
He noted that each customer of the state government under
the scheme have to pay a sum of around
N17million in all but quickly added that prospective customers will have to make
an initial payment of N7million.
He assured that it was the same story with the Lagos H.O.M.S
project in Ogba ,adding that their was nobody that will buy the flats in Ogba
without spending an additional N300,000 to carry out repair works.
In a related issue, another source said that it was sad that because a lot of
people were not aware of the poor quality of work done on the houses ,people
have to resign themselves to grim fate once they have paid the huge sums of
money to be allotted the property.
He described the new set of apartments built in Lagos state in partnership with the organized
private sector as a modernized form of civilian barrack.
His words:”You can hear what your next door neighbor is doing at all times,if he is
playing music and you are not then it means you cannot sleep in your own home”
‘If a couple are having sex then you can also listen to all
sorts of ringing tones, all the
facilities inside are sub standard all through”
“You can only park a vehicle in the car park and not too ,so
it means that it is either your neighbor does not have a car at all or you are
in trouble as you will not have a space to park at all”
He added that Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola may not even
know of the level of substandard products in the building as officials believe
that each of the owners will repair its own to its taste.
