Formally called Zaire,Congo Kinshasa is probably Africa's
richest nation .
It has several valuable minerals such as cobalt in which as
at the 70's it was the world's largest producer.
Cobalt is used in making strong steel for domestic and
industrial purposes, the nation also produces Gold and Tin around the North
Eastern axis of the nation .
The Kasai region is strongly believed to produce half of the
world's production of Diamonds with the huge mine deposits in Shaba sites for
precious minerals like
copper,zinc,uranium,managanese,Tungsten,Cadmium,Vanadium,iron ore,natural gas
is found in the Bakavu region.
Factories are based on the local content the nation produces
with such crops like sugar cane ,oilpalm nuts and other crops that are key in
Congo's agronomy.
The inga Dam near Matadi produces power for heavy industry
,in a brief chat with The News office Desk of the E.N.MPaedia Express
Multimedia Group of Lagos,Nigeria ,an impeccable source who has lived in the
Congo for a decade but who is originally from Nigeria and infact whose wife hails
from the nation says one of the immediate challenge any coming regime in the
nation after Joseph Kabila's reign will have will be on how to convince the
three major rebel groups operating in the Eastern regions of the nation to sign
peace accord.
He lamented the fact that this was not going to be possible
in that a lot of people within and
outside the nation were benefitting from
the conflict financially.
He agreed that Congo was Africa's richest nation but quickly
added that sadly the nation has not being able to fulfill its huge potential
due its endless crisis.
