ADIEU "SENIOR PIUS ADESANMI"

I had gone to one of the popular newspaper
stands at Ogba in Ikeja area of Lagos,Nigeria to see and catch a glimpse of
what the news read like on the 11th March of March,2019.
Then i saw a headline of an Ethiopian Airline
crash on The Punch Newspapers and i saw a familiar name,Professor Pius Adesanmi
,was reported to be one the victims in a crash that killed all the 157
passengers and crew members on board.
Then my mind drifted back to
several years ago,way back in time :1984 when met as college students.
it was difficult to believe that
Pius Adesanmi ,our clear senior by two years in college was no more .
The late Professor Pius Adesanmi
's family had lived initially at the staff quarters of Egbe Gilrs College ,Egbe
where his now deceased father was then principal.
The family was to later to move to the Titcombe College ,Egbe staff
quarters where his mother whom i here i still very much alive had a great
teaching career going on in her prime at
the time.
Mama Adesanmi ,as we all called
her affectionately till date was the schools matron and as such took care of
The Girls Hostels in terms of leadership,care and discipline as the case may be
at the time in history.
Mama Adesanmi with the likes of
Reverend Olori[now deceased]Reverend Oshe,Reverend Olugbamigbe taught me the
Christain Religious knowledge as a subject at Titcombe College,Egbe at the time.
Pius and i took to each other like a leech with his other
cousins like Biyi simoyan, Bola Akanbi
as we normally will want to discuss public affairs related matters
,ranging from local to global affairs.
His command of the French
language as a symbol of communication was second to none ,we regularly met at
his home where he discussed issues on a broad based level with his other family
members .
Then he started to fur fill his
potentials and what we all thought of him as he went to The University of
Ilorin for his first degree.
Sometimes in 1993 or is it in
1994,we ran into each other at the samaru main campus of the Ahmadu Bello
University Zaria where i was schooling back then ,he had come to seek out for a
place as a post graduate student.
i really do not have all the
details right now but the A.B.U. project for the late Adesanmi did not work out
and so he went elsewhere and flourished to the delight of all of us that knew
him from the start.
There had being several
University dons from Titcombe College backgrounds but Pius Adesanmi 's death at
less than 50 years fills all alumni of Titcombe college Egbe,his associates in
later life with so much sadness.
Recently ,we had included him on
the Editorial and Policy Board list of Paedia Express Multimedia Group of
Lagos,Nigeria with the intent in the medium term and the long terms to tap from
his wealth of experience on the America's and other sundry issues.
We were even tinkering with the
possibility of inviting him for our Public Policy Dialogue in June,2019 if we
could come up with the funds and then i
had this sad incident of his early demise.
Rather than mourn the dead ,we
have chosen to celebrate Pius Adesanmi,we say a very big thank you to the
Adesanmi family of Isanlu in Yagba East local government Area of kogi
state for sharing their great son :Pius
with me at Titcombe College ,Egbe where we first met and then for doing same on
the world stage on the social media .
May his soul rest in perfect peace,amen.
