BIOGRAPHY OF PROFESSOR PIUS
ADESANMI.
Adesanmi was born in Isanlu
,Yagba East local government Area of present day Kogi state at what appears to
be around 48 years ago.
He had graduated from the famous
and great Northern Nigerian citadel:Titcombe College,Egbe in 1987 with flying
colours after completing his studies in liberal arts and humanities with his
emergence as the best student in French in his class.
He was also the Library Prefect
of the school during his time at Titcombe College,Egbe.
He had served notice of what to
expect and his proficiency in the French language at this early stage in life
hence his scholarly contributions later on in life did not come as a surprise
to many who knew him from hs infancy.
He was a key member of the
college's literary and debating society aside from his fixture as a member of
the college's Honour Roll list.
Adesanmi had a B.A.First Class
Honours from the University of
Ilorin in 1992,a Masters in French
language from the Univrsity of Ibadan in 1998
and a Ph.D in French studies from the University of British Columbia in
2002.
From 2002 to 2005,he was an
Assistant Professor of comparative literature at the Pennsylvanian state
University ,The United States for America ..
In 2006,he joined Carlton
University,Ottawa,Canada as a Professor of literature and African studies.
Professor Pius Adesanmi was a Global
scholar of repute, a Nigerian literary,cultural and language critic during his
life time of several professional distinctions.
He was married and was a consummate
family man.

"Pius was a towering figure in
African and post-colonial scholarship and his sudden loss is a tragedy,"
Benoit-Antoine Bacon, President and Vice Chancellor of the university, said.
Carleton
University has expressed shock over the death of Professor Pius Adesanmi, a
member of its staff, whom it descried as "one of the canadians"
killed in Sunday's plane crash.
SaharaReporters had
earlier confirmed that
Adesanmi was one of the victims of the plane crash that involved Ethiopian
Airlines.
The
crash occurred at Addis Ababa on Sunday. 157 people lost their lives in the
incident.
The
university tweeted: "The Carleton community is mourning the loss of Pius
Adesanmi, director of the Institute of African Studies, who was among the 18
Canadians killed in today’s Ethiopian Airlines disaster. Our thoughts are with
his family at this difficult time."
